Yeah Selwood needs to be on the ground for 100% of the game to get nearly 30 touches, Boak only needs to be playing for 67%

Seriously, they're both great young guns, Selwood marginally in front at the moment, no doubt a lot of footy supporters will follow the way both of them go in years ahead. I dont think Port regrets picking up Travis instead of Selwood, and the Cats are no doubt happy with their selection, so both clubs have finished up in front.

Well done T. Boak!

According to the stats in The Advertiser, Boak amassed those 28 touches while only being on the field for 67% of the game!

In theory he would have been somewhere around the 40 possession mark, had he played all of the game... 8)

Yep, a good performance from the man that Mark Mickan rated highly.

Would that be the same Mark Mickan who recommended the Crows draft McGregor (at the expense of Pav) lol. Nah only stirring there, McGregor was a highly credentialled junior so that was fair enough, but his treatment of Boak early in the year was definitely poor.

After being drafted, then spending the summer with Port Adelaide doing his first pre-season,are you suggesting that Mickan did the wrong thing by not picking him in the League team for the first few weeks?

Travis would have used a street directory to get to the Bay first time round. Not one session with Glenelg through the summer, and from Torquay as a 18 year old.Not much for Mickan to work with, hindsight proving other wise.

Anyway, well done to Travis. He is Port Adelaide's third Rising Star nom this year (Westhoff,Gray).

Good recruiting boys.

Stir away portonians... Why expect Mikan to pick in his first team a kid that hes never seen play and who spent all of the preseason with the Power. Still bitter about Salopek, Mahoney and Logan's efforts on the weekend. Congrats to Travis, but you guys just cant help yourselves.

Mate,I am saying I understand why Mickan did not pick him,I even said he spent all summer with Port Adelaide.Mickan could not have picked him ahead of one of the blokes who spent all summer learning his game plan.Sheesh.

Hehe you can take the flak Boony

I think once Boak got 30 possessions in his first game at Reserves level it should have been fairly obvious that he was a fair way ahead of this level of footy. Glenelg drafted Boak in the mini draft so should have had some idea about his background given this.

So i can understand him playing 1 game in the Reserves, but any more than one is not recognising talent when its right before him (Mickan).

People on the Snouts website were calling for Boak to be promoted after his second game in the reserves, problem was we were told to play him in the midfield...who do ya drop? Backwell? Kane?
anyhow, that was 3 months ago and hes now establishing himself as an AFL player regardless of which SANFL club he is aligned to.

Gotta be happy with the young players to emerge at Alberton this year.

To quote Larry David, they're....

"Pretty good."
