Many leases enable you to do exactly that.

Morell out of interest, would MP be able to pay what Athelstone have to? Like I said, we wouldn't be able to, and if these rates force sporting clubs to shut down surely that's doing more harm to the council area than good?
The sporting club would, and does. Our Sports Club turnover is in the order of a quarter of a million each year - of which included in that are Council fees for the privilege of being able to run that business. $400wk rent/fees isn't that much for a business generating that sort of income - and we're small! Nothing the size of the Raggies program.

The Mitchell Park Football Club (and cricket, and netball and etc) are an affiliate to the Sport Club. So we don't have anywhere near the expenses, but also don't have anywhere near the ability to raise the sorts of revenue they do either.

In essence, a fully licensed bar and kitchen should be able to generate enough income to pay Council fees with consummate ease.

Unless of course you're coughing up oodles of cash for player payments....

******* lol. In my 15 years at Mitchell Park I have not once seen a dog club member as much as buy a can of coke from the bar. Don't contribute administration wise either. Pretty sure their lease is nice and peppery too. In their defence they don't use the same parts of the facilities the rest of us do, so they are "separate"

I'd say the revenue would be 40% footy, 30% cricket and the rest spread over the others. There are a few oldies type clubs as well.

I'd be shocked if the Cricket Club is bringing in anywhere near three quarters of what the footy club does.

Generally Footy Clubs bring in double if not triple what the cricket does.

We have 6 cricket teams I think.

I am talking money over the Sports club bar and through the kitchen. Not total revenue. The footy club canteen and other revenue stream are larger than the cricket clubs.

Being on the Sports club committee for a year I got to see the numbers (the main reason I joined)

The difficulty was working out exactly where to "break" the analysis. As in, there is obviously overlap and we don't record which affiliate the customer is representing - much to my chagrin.

The most people I've seen at a random community cricket match would be perhaps 20? A little different to an ammo's football match on a Saturday arvo.

MPFC sell grog outside the sporting club though dont they? Maybe that's why the figures are so different?

I would spend more money during cricket season over the bar than footy though, maybe Mitchell Pk folk are more inclined to spend a Sat evening at the club over summer than during footy?

We don't get that much random spend over the bar on either days TBH. Most of it comes from special events (BnFs, band nights, gents/ladies days) and then the traditional Thursday and Saturday nights.

Cricket don't even open the canteen on game days I don't think, so yes, total overall revenue, footy would be much bigger - but over the bar in our sports club - revenue is closer. I've had this exact argument probably 20 times. I even graphed our till receipts to work it out.

Iggies knocked off Broadies in a great game by 11 points.

C.Ortlepp from Iggies kicked 5 after half time, from memory i reckon he has kicked over 20 now against Broadies in the last 3 games against us

I have an expectation there won't be a lot of game time. But again I am not on top of this one at all.

Bloody hell, don't often see 4 of 5 games decided by a collective 8 points.

Amazing round.
