I think historically we also get too defensive in the batting second innings of tests in India.

You simply can't 'grind' out an innings on those pitches in days 4-5, you could face 100 balls perfectly for 30 runs and be 'in' only to get a O'Keefe grubber Shaun Marsh grubbed cutter unplayable and all your hard work is undone

No surprise the leading run scorers this series are Rahane, Smith and Starc the 3 most attacking batsmen so far

Take a look at Kohli arguably the worlds best bat, his mindframe is defensive and even he can't survive.

Though I'm surprised more wasn't made of Warner overheard sledging in the stump mic very clearly on the broadcast doing his best 'mahatma coat' impersonation while telling the Indian batsmen he had no idea.

I know it's a tad petty but I thought in this day and age the media would have been all over it

If we select horse for courses in Test Cricket, how long can the selectors keep picking David Warner on the lower bouncing or variable bouncing or spinning decks ?
On pitches that suit him he is close to the best batsman in the world , but on the above mentioned decks he is mainly performing poorly by his standards
And Australia must also consider fielding him away from leg slip or in close
He is one of the very best outfielders in the world, but dropping too many catches in close this series

Wade and M.Marsh are dog shit, Starc the 3rd most runs says a bit in its self. Handscombe and Warner just need to be more patient on slow turning wickets that's all.

Perhaps being a left arm spinner and therefore turning the ball away from all the Indian righthanders might see Agar selected. Maxwell is probably the better option with the bat out of the two.

I'd go Maxwell over Agar, only because Agar is another left hander that Ashwin can exploit and Maxwell is so unconventional that he can play a wide range of random shots to score lol, so might have more success.
