There's a big shiny thing in the trophy cabinet at Oxford Terrace, Unley that paid for my membership of the SFC a thousand times over!

I think you will find that the "shiny thing" is situated at their pokey venue on Unley Road.

Yes, it's bloody good when old Thomas comes over for a stay! Smashing chap, full of rancour and colourful tales, always heralds a good laugh what?
To be honest, I think he suits the place! Sets off the decor with his great shining ambience. Just about need sunglasses to shield the old oculi from the power of his glow, what? Exactly the srt of chap we like at Unley, let me tell you! Jolly good show.
Oh well, time for my roll in tweed followed by cucumber sammy lunch, what?

therisingblues wrote:Well, the latest rumour in our long battle with the interlopers; K.G. this morning announced that they WILL BE out of our league by the start of 2018.
This in spite of Olsen maintaining that they are here for the long haul.
They wouldn't name the driving force behind this movement, but he was dead certain that it WILL HAPPEN!
He went on to say they will be joining the VFL which has a much more AFL orientated game style, with most teams being aligned to an AFL club.
He also said that fans of the Crows and Power just aren't supporting them in the SANFL, because they are all against their involvement in our local comp.
Not sure about that last statement, it would be reassuring to believe that the supporters of the local AFL clubs share our distress at the destruction of the SANFL, but evidence on this forum would suggest that mostly just don't care.
Another hopeful rumour?
This is the first time I have heard someone in mainstream media claim with certainty that the AFL reserves will be leaving our comp in the very near future. Cannot wait for more information to surface, hopefully to confirm what K.G is saying.
I will save my judgement depending on the strength of that information.
Please let it be so...

Agreed - Can't see any benefits to justify the cost. A more AFL orientated style of game certainly wouldn't justify it.

This
NO way Port can afford the $200 000 to $250 000 a year to do this assuming it is only the away games they travel for.
No way can the stand alone VFL clubs can afford the $$$ to travel here for Port Home games.
AFL clubs in the VFL would rather spend that money on their AFL team or coterie groups to get more sponsorship $$$
AFL is pumping money into the womens comps and the 18s not the state leagues
Dream on
