Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017
Spoke to an A Grade player of theirs.
Have lost their ruck man but haven't really added or removed any large numbers. Will be at about the same strength as last year.
Which was actually pretty good when they had all hands on deck. In the 5 and in the mix for mine.

Last year PAOC structured up as follows:
1st - Div 1
2nds - Div 1R
3rds - Div 7
4ths - C3
5ths - Div 7R
6ths - C5
This year it looks possible they will line up as 1, 1R, C1, 7, 7R, meaning Div 7 will face the 4ths of 5, rather than the 3rds of 6, huge drop off in talent and ability if that is the case.
At Uni we've looked at this structure but always found that the top level of div 7 is better than the top level of c1 just because these sides are generally a grade; the longer quarters mean that sides are fitter and that the jump to the a and b grade is less arduous physically.
Having said that, the standard of c1 has been quite high over the last few years especially regards those teams in the upper echelons.

I think Adelaide Uni should follow suit, surely you want your true third side playing the other big clubs in C1

Who would win, a D7 A Grade side or a womens AFL team?
D7 A Grade side
No offence to the women's team - there are some very skillful girls, but just dont think they could match the physical aspect, and doubt they'd match up height wise around the ground, or the general "footy smarts" that are developed over years of playing the game.

Dry deck in Summer I reckon they'd pants us.

Zartan, you're a twat...you sound just like Luke Hosie, a match made in heaven in fact.
Can you imagine the offspring?

Why? Because of leg speed or because they're far fitter? Or combination of both?

Honestly cant say i've watched a lot of women's footy at AFL level - and not live.. i'm only basing my views on the SAWFL comp.
You're prob right, i'll watch some games and get an idea

They're pretty damn good. Better than I thought they'd be.

Are you serious?? I'd back any of the AFL women's team against any of the Div 7 teams. Their fitness levels would be well and truly higher than the blokes. And the concentration levels by the blokes wouldn't be on the footy I tell ya right now

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017
Its the Key Positions where the women would struggle. Fitness wise also you will be surprised. They may be able to run but the sheer strength of blokes would eventually take its toll.. Who would be standing on a 6'6 115kg bloke in the goal square? Skill wise I agree would be more than comparable
People also rate the women's standard on the past Melbourne v Bulldogs games, they are the best of the best, an all star game, the standard wont be anywhere near that in the AFLW comp, that has to be factored in..
