Yes what was the "event" we had on the 28th December then?

Interesting use of "once-in-ten year" given our recent track record!!

Once-in-10-years? Pfft...survived two once-in-50-year storms last year.

Basic statistics ladies and gentlemen.

On average the severity of storm comes through once in x years.

That doesnt mean if you have said storm you wont get another one for a while!

Now for some not so basic statistics

It would be modelled using a Poisson Distribution (im pretty sure at least)

It's just the leftovers of a tropical system that's done a hot lap around the top end and crossed over around Broome. We get 2-3 of these storms every Summer!

Exactly…. I think the BoM have let the power of the media go to their head, everything is now sensationalised.

"Significant weather event" makes it easier to explain why all our lights and fridges turned off. ;)

I dunno, there's always good and bad tracks on their records. I guess every rose has it's thorn.

Up North people go troppo in rain like this and the unskinny ones bob around naked at night on the back lawn, or so the story goes.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I guess the neighbors might be inclined to open up the windows, look over the fence and say...ahhh!
