Sam Miller played a hell of an innings last night for Modbury (91*) on quite a slow outfield and B. Nicol made a scratchy but handy 20 odd.
Para Hills 5/156 (Rajeer 44, Barker 37*, Hartog 39) def. by Modbury 7/157 (Miller 91, Nicol 22, Box 2/20).
Modbury's campaign will remain in the hands of Sam Miller. If he makes less than 50 they will probably lose, as they have very minimal depth, but they keep marching on.
Who's favourite to win the comp now that we are down to the last 8 and Pooraka being eliminated?

I assume Walkerville got up over Goodwood last night?

Fair effort for Pembroke to knock off Pooraka just quietly!

Without knowing who the turf we'll pit against each other in the next round, I'd price the market along the following lines:

Grange $3.50
PAOC $4.80
Modbury $5.25
Walkerville $6.00
Fulham $10.00
Pembroke $10.00
ROCs $12.50
Marion $15.00
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Carl Mickan is a good duel-rego player.

Luke Adcock is good with the stick and Kyle Adcock is a handy pitcher.
Oliver is probably their best with the ball and Glover is a serviceable bit player.

Agreed they get a bit thin after that, but T20 only needs a few to go and you can ride their coat tails from there (ie: Modbury with Miller).

Marion @$15. Went down on the 2nd last ball against PAOC in the round game.

Yeah can make a case for most sides.

Grange flying this year and have some reasonable imports for T20 as well.

PAC, Modbury and Walkies all have done very well in T20 in recent years so have to be up there.

As for the other 4, as you say Marion were good against PAC, Pembroke just took out Pooraka, Fulham have a handy 5 or 6 players and ROCs are top in A2 playing some good cricket at the moment.

Games could go either way. Fulham with Bone and Mickan help them.
Rocs got up by 10 runs after Penfield gave them 30 extras.
Marion got up after having 36 extras.

How can someone like Mark Cosgrove be eligible to play in this Comp? Does it make the comp a farce or does it enhance it?

ATCA clubs are allowed to play 'guest' players from Premier Cricket.

In most cases they are juniors of the ATCA club any way or have have a connection to the club.

I agree, I think it enhances the competition as well. It gives some teams outside of A1 an opportunity to be more than competitive.
It is frustrating though as an opposition when the import single handedly wins a game off their own bat with very little contribution from the regular players.

I think it definitely enhances the competition. There doesn't seem to be as many guest players these days in the ATCA T20 comp. In previous years we have had Travis Head playing for Pooraka and Trinity, Chad Sayers playing for Flinders Park, Tom Plant and Trent Kelly at Grange, Matt Weaver and Tim Evans at Ingle Farm. I'm sure there have been plenty of others

SACA have banned it through the back door by scheduling it's own 20/20 matches against it....

Tom Plant still playing for Grange.

But yes, the ATCA have moved to restrict the number of duel rego players used in this comp.
Previously, you could use as many as you wanted, just a maximum of 2 in any 1 game.
This year the turf started applying a bylaw to the T20 comp that said you can't source imports from more than 2 SACA clubs, over the entire season, over all competitions. This has dramatically reduced the numbers from what I've seen.

I understand the change was driven after last year's T20 premiers used a range of imports throughout the T20 comp, namely:
Tom Andrews (Woodville)
Elliot Opie (Kensi)
Nick Mosey (Kensi)
Jack Latchford (Sturt)
Will Latchford (Sturt)
Nick Clayfield (Adel Uni)
Lachlan Griffiths (Glenelg)
Matt Favell (East Torrens)

Modbury are definitely riding Sam miller.. He's a class act, but can be got early! He backed 145 with 91no.. Not bad at all! Modbury definitely lack depth, but are a young side who seem to be on the improve, got a good win over unley on saturday. Will be interesting to see how they go V ingle sandercock.

I did hear there were almost violent scenes at para hills though? Para hills couldn't handle losing?
