Probably it's done to promote the club mighty. The big secrets are kept in house. Our club is proud of our ability to recruit players who want to play for us and our coaches are happy to publicise it. You'd be surprised what the impact is inside the playing group with these announcements now that they've hit the track.

It doesn't carry any sick bravado where the line between semi-professional and Community Football becomes a bit close to comfort (I have general discomfort about it, but the occasional bravado about it i detest).

We started doing it at the start of this season to make the new guys feel welcomed and get their names out to our tens of fans of facebook . It did create some chatter among the lads during preseason asking when their profiles were going to be put up. I reckon its all a bit of fun.

You gain players and lose players. Mark will fit nicely into the B grade side

you know you can still do that and have the page set to private?
FP have a page where clubs news is posted and then a private page just for FP players and members where recruiting info and training info is posted.
