Rosewater FC - Public Notice
Hi All,
Obviously it has been a tough season with recent events. It's clear that there are a few that have had their say and in some instances some of the wording in those comments i have found to be way off the mark. The club itself has taken those comments (even those on here) on the chin and will be working towards a more positive outcome.
With the clubs blessing and that of the league i addressed the entire executive committee and the whole of the league delegates and presidents recently acknowledging and publicly apologizing for the angst and disrepute the actions of a few have caused. Before anyone decides that this will be an easy target,we just don't want this thread used an avenue to take aim at our club. We are publicly apologizing AGAIN for the issues and would like this to be the last of it. Personally i will thank those that came to us to lend their support.
We look forward to the 2017 season and seeing all our friends, members, supporters and our opposing clubs in Division 5 next year.

Good positive intent. On the front foot.

Re: Rosewater FC - Public Notice
Good luck to everybody involved at Rosewater. I totally understand how 1 persons actions can make life very difficult at your club.
I see another person was given a life ban for an incident involving an umpire, yet we hear nothing about it.....

Cheers to everyone that has responded positively. We aren't worried about whats going on elsewhere. It wont get anyone anywhere. We worry about our own backyard like most should and the rest will take care of itself. Only downside is watching everyone else play footy.

Amateur footballer Adam Rumbelow ‘snapped’, punching umpire in his 300th game because of work stress and back pain, court hears

AN amateur footballer blamed work stress and back pain for “snapping” and punching an umpire in a “vicious and cowardly” attack just seven minutes into his 300th game, a court has heard.
Rosewater Football Club player Adam Malen Rumbelow pleaded guilty to one aggravated count of assault at his first appearance in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
Rumbelow, of Alberton, punched veteran umpire Craig Trewartha after being yellow-carded during a match against Blackfriars Old Scholars at Rosewater on July 16 this year.
The court heard the 36-year old hurled abuse before breaking free from teammates restraining him and landed a single punch on umpire Craig Trewartha after a routine 25m penalty in the match’s opening term.

In a victim impact statement read to the court, Mr Trewartha described being attacked from behind.
“He shook free from his minders without any warning or provocation punched me viciously from behind in a cowardly one-punch attack,” the umpire said.
“You exploded my face for no good reason. I spent two weeks in pain.
“I do not understand why someone would inflict such pain on an innocent victim for no good reason in such a cowardly way,” he said in the statement.
Before the incident, Mr Trewartha described how he would “spring out of bed and look forward to the game” each Saturday during winter.
“I take umpiring seriously ... I feel like I am making a difference.”
The court heard Mr Trewartha suffered sleeping problems and flashbacks in the weeks after the attack.
Injuries sustained by football umpire Craig Trewartha.
Rumbelow’s lawyer, Stacey Carter, said the former club captain and coach had endured more than a decade of significant pressure and stress while working for a large electrical appliance company before resigning in 2014.
Ms Carter said that stress was compounded by a back problem resulting in “unbearable back pain on the day of his 300th game”.
“Rumbelow remembers seeing the yellow card but has very little memory of the incident itself. He admits that he simply snapped,” she said.
“This game was so important to him ... and he really wanted to play despite the fact he knew physically he was in agony.”
Ms Carter read a letter of apology Rumbelow sent to the SA Amateur Football League four days after the assault which she said demonstrated his sincere remorse and regret.
“I can only sincerely apologise ... I can only hope this doesn’t impact permanently on your enjoyment of being involved (in football),” Rumbelow wrote.
Magistrate Kym Millard convicted Rumbelow and imposed a two-year good-behaviour bond.
“People with pressure and stress everyday get out on the sporting field and none of them do such a thing to take out their frustration,” Mr Millard said.
“The community just can’t tolerate situations where loss of control result in unprovoked, unprecedented attacks on an umpire.”
Rumbelow, who has been banned from playing for 20 years, declined to comment outside court.

Re: Rosewater FC - Public Notice
Isolated - "back pain" is obviously a poor excuse.. but if this stress from work/pain etc and been building for a long period of time, then shouldn't discount the difficult head space he may have been in.
Depression/Anxiety can do some crazy things to good people - this was a massive occasion for him, emotions are magnified..
Not saying what he did wasn't bad, just think shouldn't judge a bloke who dedicated most his life to sport - coaching and playing - and act like we know what he was going through at the time.
Bloke has copped a fair punishment, and fair bad press - surely we can leave it be now..
