Not really, they obviously had him in mind sending him to SA for the ODI's.
Red Ball Mennie Pink Ball Sayers for me. I think Chadd should play in both D/N tests ahead of Siddle or Mennie.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Not at all, I thought Sayers had his foot in the door with already being part of the test squad when we went to NZ and therefore ahead of Mennie for national honours. Like LM said that the 12th man position is like a game of musical chairs. But still good for Mennie to get rewarded after topping the wickets in the Sheffield Shield last season and having a very good Aus A winter series.
In his press conference Rod Marsh said that Mennie impressed because he's a very good length bowler and because of that bowls well everywhere.

One of the articles I read said that Siddle might need an extra test to get right, hope so as I would love Mennie to debut

South Africa $3 to win the 1st Test.

It's our batting that worries me, not our bowling. Mitchell Marsh at six, Nevil quite limited IMO. I have a funny feeling that Marsh might have a summer out of the box this year. Home test against a quick attack he could get off to a flyer.

Yep Marsh will be the leasing run scorer for the summer, book his place for the Ashes in England and be the reason we lose them again when he averages 6.5 for the series

I reckon there's good chance that his brother will regain his famous SA footy nickname in this series giving the South African slip fielders some decent catching practice.

Reckon REB meant Shaun Marsh, I certainly did. Mitch Marsh wouldnt bat top 6 for WA

If Mitch didn't bowl he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near any first class setup and somehow he bats 6 in the test side! The talk is he needs to show some improvement batting wise to hold his spot but I think he's performing at his level already. Certainly his first class numbers suggest that.

But it's our bowling against their batting, which is strong.

Their batting looks thin to me. Amla is class but doesn't seem to have great form and the rest all have question marks IMHO. Reckon any time you pick Duminy it's an admission you haven't got much left.

Yeah you're not wrong, they appear to be quite reliant on Amla and Faf. Cook, Elgar, Bavuma, Rossouw (yet to debut) definitely all have question marks hanging over them. Think our bowlers will be licking their lips at the prospect of bowling to those blokes.
