I had a look tonight. Two players are illustrated. Murphy the captain being one and Cripps the other. The vice captain Gibbs no where to be seen.

Interesting to see Gibbs played every game this year but finished 4th in the B&F. Maybe internally he is not rated as high.

With a long term contact and a family now I think he is content and playing well within himself.
In a good team I think he'd take the step up and become the elite player he always should have been.

Adelaide's flag chances are here and now. Key men Jacobs ( 29 in '17 ), Walker ( 27 in '17), Talia ( 26 in '17), Sloane ( 27 in '17 ) are ripe to lead Adelaide deeper into the finals than this year over the next 2-3 years.

McGovern, while he looks like a very capable player got dropped ( "managed" ) late in the year, he stunk it up in the finals and really is the 5th forward behind Walker, Betts, Lynch and Jenkins. He's expendable with Menzel in the wings, Milera a half forward, and Cameron circling which of course some of them play different roles but Adelaide are ready now and have depth in this area.

If Adelaide are planning for a crack when McGovern is at his best, in 3-5 years then they'll have missed the boat.

If they could get away with McGovern and a future second rounder they would be neck deep in 2017-2019.

Sam Mitchell been offered 2 years and then a coaching role at WC. He was just on radio and is open to the offer as the Hawks will only give him 1 year. Maybe the Hawks will use him to get Tom Mitchell or O'Meara in

Lucky it wasn't Geelong or the Bulldogs. Hoops aren't very slimming.

Didn't he just win the Hawks B&F?
Surely deserves 2 more years at the Hawks.

"Open to the offer" almost an understatement .. Sounded to me like he knows it makes sense for his future and his missus is all for it.

What is his value for a trade though? two years left, you won't give much to get him even though BnF winner last year.
Not sure how this one will pan out...
Is he an unrestricted free agent? edit: Just read he is on a one year contract for next year.

Seems we are doing our best to turn into then by grabing as many older players as possible. Whilst Mitchell is still plaing decent footy, Petrie is more cooked than Swanny on a Saturday night.

I understand where you are coming from but I (and most Crows supporters) saw some brilliance in McGoven last season, he played nearly every game coming off not much of a preseason. 191cm blokes who can mark, jump and run are hard to find, i think we can get the deal done with another player as Gov has a massive up side, the games we got into him last season was big for his development IMO! His manager came out last night and said no chance of going to Carlton. He is a WA boy who moved to SA, doubt he will be keen to move to VIC.

GWS to get involved in the trade, don't think Carlton can get Pickett/Marchbank/Stewart without Crows pick 13 (and hanging onto pick 4)

I tend to think it will come down to where the Crows think they are in the premiership window, he is probably their 5th forward but has lots of upside.

If the crows believe they can win it next year with Gibbs anyone who isn't a guaranteed walk up could be available

IMHO the Crows have historically always grossly overestimated their squads ability

Sounds like very mature discussions by all 3 parties. I'd be stoked if we got the eagles 2nd round pick, more likely to be a 3rd. The salary cap room is the main thing

Adelaide's window is as open as it is ever going to be and the addition of Gibbs makes them a scary prospect for the next couple of seasons.

I think their fringe players have enough talent to fill the gap left by whoever they have to offload to obtain Gibbs, I'd be keeping McGovern though and looking at one of there many running players that don't lay many tackles.

Maybe a swap of first rounders and they throw in a third rounder. Would then give you pick 12 to send to the Swans for Tom Mitchell

Being on the Veterans List not much of his wage would be in the salary cap

That said he is not going anywhere
