I think the key difference is exactly what you mentioned...BZB27 wrote:morell wrote:Interesting rumblings coming out of Para Hills...
Have already assembled 44+ players - many of whom won them a flag in D5 just two years ago. Would have to start asking some questions of where the most appropriate place to grade them would be. I have heard if they're in D7 it will be a similar season to Smithfield's run of dominance. Not sure what the answer is though!
Not really any different to Salisbury West except they just scrapped a side together for a year and then went bang again this year. Will be interesting to see how they stack up in D6 next year...
Salisbury West struggled for a year and rebuilt. Para Hills completely disbanded.
I have a bit of an issue with a team winning a flag in D5, then effectively folding, then coming back with a similar team and starting in D7.
Teams should be made to work through tough years and not just bounce around winning flags.
It makes a mockery of the promotion relegation system.

Find it quite funny MP posters jumping up and down about Para Hills. Is it because MP are in div 7 next season and I can't recall all the jumping up and down when MP signed a few of there players!

That's quite honestly some of the more spurious reasoning I've seen on here, but OK.

Re: CH9AFL Division 6 2016
Firstly, not sure who from Para Hills is providing the up to date info, after speaking with a couple of the lads Friday night they have pretty much cut all ties with MP.
Secondly, before Para Hills won the flag in 2015 they hadn't won one since 2006. In fact they did it very tough for a few years. I wouldn't say they "just bounce around winning flags".
Thirdly, Para Hills have not requested to be in Div 7 and are more concerned about have 2 teams than what div they play in.

Cut all ties, haha please. Still plenty of good mates amongst the players from Mitchell Park and always will be.
"Bouncing around winning flags" was in reference to a couple of teams, not just Para Hills. But the facts are, the last time Para Hills played, they won a flag two divisions above where they'll likely be playing. If 80% of that team returns and plays D7, it would be honestly absurd.
If Para Hills are struggling and need a year to rebuild, ala Salisbury West or Smithfield, not a problem, but I notice a very distinct lack of denial about 44+ players already signed - including 5 the other night from the D5 premiership team.
For what its worth - where Para Hills plays is not up to them, so I wouldn't apportion any blame on their footstep - they're only doing the best they can to survive and thrive... but the SAAFL have had plenty of warning, plenty of notice, should the early clearances indicate that Para Hills are ridiculously too strong for D7 then they should act and act early.
And before any of you galahs trys to claim that this is all so MP can win a flag - we're absolutely no chance at all. Hoping to build a foundation of young players, if Para Hills dominates it would be of no real consequence to us other than a cutla thumpings. I more feel for St Pauls, Central United and Flinders Uni.

Re: CH9AFL Division 6 2016
Come Nov 1st all the Bull$hit will stop with the transfer window opening and we will be able to see which clubs are on the rise and who is already stuffed for season 2017.
The league will also know and be montioring what is going on and which clubs are telling Porkies on their numbers.
They will be able to make an informed decision by the AGM to advise clubs of the gradings.
So the off / silly season will be shorter this year and reality will set in sooner!!!!!

2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.
Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

I wouldn't feel sorry for St Pauls, they chose to start up again, whilst stripping the local clubs around them of valuable players.Weakening Mawsons Lakes in the process.
