Wells has knocked back $550k pa over 2 years at North, anyone taking him will be offering more, good luck.

I don't get the Cloke to Bullies move, they have Boyd and Stringer...surely Cloke will only stunt their development? If you were getting him as a depth player on minimum wage fair enough but Collingwood will be asking for them to cover the last year of his contract so he isn't coming cheaply.

Could perhaps see Boyd and Stringer play more time up the ground in the ruck/midfield with Cloke there?

Im with you Dutch, I wouldn't have thought Cloke was the right option for the Dogs (but hey, clearly Im no expert). Crameri back fits their style nicely, but he can be questionable in front of the sticks, Cloke even moreso.

How are the Dogs going to re-sign their plethora of young talent moving forward, given the value they could all command?

I also find it weird as I reckon Beveridge is the best coach in the competition, he obviously has a plan, look forward to seeing what they do!

Boyd is a ruck/forward, and stringer isn't a key forward.

Cloke would play alongside those two. It would be jack redpath he would keep out of the team, which I think is a bad thing as I reckon he goes alright

I can't see us getting wells. Makes no sense given we have players like Atkins knight Milera Hampton wigg and seedsman as good young outside runners

Redpath probably out for most of next year- maybe filling a hole there?

Cloke has a year on his contract with Collingwood, yes? If he does, they pay some of his wage and the Dogs get him for say $150-200k in year one and $200k in year two. Still can't see where he fits though...

I don't get this move either. I don't get Cloke to anyone. He is so slow and shithouse below his knees players like Cloke are from a different era. As for Wells, wouldn't want him at Geelong even though we do lack outside run.

It's a fairly cheap gamble in my opinion. I think many had written off Hawkins in the same mold as Cloke, but in a reasonable team he has turned it around & provided a very reasonable return of 50 goals this year.

Cloke is a tricky one for me. Boyd is developing slower than everyone would have hoped but he has come on well lately, he could play as the FF and swap in the ruck with roughead who is becoming a fantastic ruck fwd (how good is his contested marking!) And cloke could play CHF. He also gives the one out contest we have lacked. He could bring the ball to ground so our flanks and pockets have something to work with...

Fwd line of
Dahlhous Boyd Dickson
Crameri Cloke Stringer

Looks ok to me,
With daniel, mcrae, hunter, bont, stevens, smith, dunkley, mclean and picken able to rotate through there we have plenty of arsenal. Plus he provides more than Zaine Cordy and with big red out effectively for the year he might just be the missing piece of the puzzle..... haha!

If we get him cheap for a couple we could do worse, as long as he is kicking for goal from between 45 and 60m he should be ok!

Yep, know all that, but cheers .. Still have my doubts on whether he helps them that much. Unreliable kick, and his best marking years more than likely behind him. Good insurance though if Boyd/Crameri/Redpath aren't up to required form or are injured.

I like the Dogs, so hope it works out well for them, but I have my doubts.

Did anyone else see the footage of hutchy playing with the glove that Cloke wore in one game (and got banned for)?

It was pretty damning. Outright cheating basically

Hawkins is a gun. He might not kick the bags week in week out but his work off the ball and ability to bring the ball to ground is very underrated.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

To answer the queries about Cloke's salary he has said he is prepared to tear up his Collingwood contract believed to be 500k for next year. He is then signing with the Bulldogs for 500k over 2 years. This will ensure the trade gets done, Pies want the salary cap space. Will be traded for a 4th or 5th round pick so basically nothing.
