This update dated Friday, 6 May 2016:

Gilberton Swing Bridge | Update
The Swing Bridge received partial approval from the Development Assessment Commission (DAC) on 13 April 2016 after originally submitting the application in mid-November 2015.
DAC did not provide Building Rules consent and a private certifier has been appointed to undertake the Building Rules consent work.
Given the Building Rules consent has yet to be received, coupled with the requirement for notification prior to closing the bridge and the approximate three month construction period it is reasonable to expect that the project will not be completed by the end of the financial year.
Both Councils are committed to commencing works as soon as practically possible and will keep all stakeholders informed as updates come to hand.

Had a building inspection done on a place my partner and I could be buying. We knew there would be some issue turn up in it and yes they did. The problem is I don't know enough about this topic at all to look at the report and say "yes most of the issues are easily enough sorted and the house would be fine to buy" or "no, that issue is one where I'd definitely be pulling out of the sale", and I don't know where to look for help or advice. Any suggestions?

I would've thought your building inspector would be able to advise you on the significance of the issues, including how much they might cost to repair?

By the way, are you able to elaborate on the issue?

I have just read one that had issues 100 pages long but they were split between 3 potential serious ones and the rest were minor.
Whilst the inspector did not commit in the report the 3 issues were queried over the phone and they amounted to a total worst case of having to retile a bathroom although a short term fix was also available so a decision could be made.
Give them a call.
