Ryder, Monfries, White, Carlile, Lobbe, Schulz, Hombsch, Jonas. 8. 8 missing. Throw in Howard, make it 9.
These guys offer depth but how many are in the top 10 players at your club?
Ryder would be
Schulz probably past it due to injuries
Hombsch is a big out too.
Probably 2 of those 9 would really hurt the team.
Not sure they are going to turn you into a finals team.
It's more the output of your top guys. Wingard has turned it around but the rest of the mids aren't even close to having career best seasons. Compare the midfield to a few years ago. Same blokes but the output isn't the same.
It's not about being top 10, it's about the squad applying pressure to the first 22 to make them earn a spot every week, with the list that depleted (and throw in a couple of first year rookies on the list) you haven't got pressure from below.
On your list, Schulz would have given us the ability to ruck Dixon more this year, means Trengove is back. So his spot might not be a 60 goal a year forward, but it would give us flexibility.
Hombsch is crucial to our back half ( see above ) and with him and Trengove back there it would be a massive difference.
White and Monfries would be in the side at the expense of Neade and Young at the start of the year, Young has taken his chances and made the spot his, so there'd be 3 blokes fighting for one spot.
Carlile is done, the game passed him by when he did his back/hip last year. He had almost no preseason because of that. He's done.
Jonas and Lobbe, as noted above, fit and in form make Ryder/Dixon and Hombsch/Austin earn their spots in the ruck and back half.
Adelaide the perfect example at the moment, Ellis-Yoleman and Grigg aren't even close to getting a game, but they're making sure Douglas pulls out all his tricks to stay in the side.
PAFC. Forever.
LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
