Coulter-Nile again, they love giving some blokes free rides don't they.

Henriques first class form since his last test match in 2013 hardly demands a recall.

All of which counts for absolutely zero, meanwhile Bacchus will be enjoying a spot of lunch somewhere pleasant.

Good point, some rewards there for a few blokes who have earnt a crack at higher honours.... as for Moises, I guess someone had to "step up" to cover Watto's retirement. He is a good fit then!

Neither of them will play a game anyway, perhaps they are specialists at pouring drinks.

No real surprises there. Henriques goes as backup to M Marsh, which tells me they are going to play two spinners the whole time.

NCN goes as backup for Starc (in lieu of Pattinson and Cummins), Bird for Hazelwood.

Sayers only goes instead of Bird, not instead of NCN.

Shaun Marsh is the one that really annoys me. Why bother taking him? He isnt getting picked unless there is an injury. Why not take Bancroft or Head and give them some experience around the Test team?

The press release basically said they would play 2 spinners BMac. I've said it many times, an all rounder, and I means GENIUNE all rounder is fine, but we actually don't have one. So now we take 2 blokes who both bat & bowl a bit on tour! Ok perhaps take one. Neither of them is good enough to play as either a batter in the top 6, or as part of our best 4 bowlers, in any conditions. Give me a player who can either bat or bowl a lot, than a bloke who can do a little of either.

The problem is we don't have someone in the top order who can bowl 10 overs on those days where the opposition bats most of the day. Warner isn't consistent enough, smith won't bowl himself as captain for some reason.

I guess Voges could do it, but he is getting on.

Potentially down the track someone like head could do it.

Don't forget we are now the top ranked test side though, and we got there playing 5 bowlers the whole time, so there is no real impetus to change the structure of the team

Fair point Benny... I guess I am one to think our 4 best bowlers SHOULD be good enough to bowl out any opposition line up. What you are saying is to have a plan b. It would be good if one of our best 6 batters could do that 10 over job. Ideally M. Marsh is that player, I just want him to be in our best 6 batters... Then it's a no brainer.

And Sayers has played half his matches on a road. NCN must have pictures.

Top call this. Weve been searching for the great white hope since Keith Miller retired.

Yes we have. So what does that tell you... Blokes like that don't come along all that often, so why do we try to manufacture one?
