It's nit picking and I'm sure it's not what you meant, but this is a personal pet peeve of mine - no person is "anyones". People aren't property. Why as men do we think we have the right to possess women?

Anyway, doesn't sounds good. Hope everyone comes out alright.

Are you for real?
There's sort of an unwritten law there that anyone with morals should abide by. It has nothing to do with ownership.

Very for real. If people are in a relationship its up to them how they define their boundaries and it's really no one else's business. I know its hard to believe but it's 2016 - there are all sorts of different types of "relationships" out there that work for different types of people.

As an example, instead of - "Heard it was over another players girl", try - "Heard it was over some poor relationship choices".

As I said it's nitpicking, but is indicative of our patriarchal society and especially rife in football culture.

I'm not sure what kind of twilight zone you live in morell, but everything I've seen at football clubs indicate to me that it's the women who own the men and that generally they keep said players' balls under lock and key ;)

Also the rhetoric follows the pattern on the other side of the fence "gurl, did you hear that Kaneisha slept with Obamanique's man?"

I don't get the debate on this, either.
It's not about Person A being Person B's 'property'.
It's about personal boundaries and respecting the interpersonal relationships of others.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Sure, no one "owns" anyone. People are people, not objects... but I'm not really talking about whether or not someone can go to the gents night or have a Sunday golf session, I'm talking a bit more deep rooted than that - like how our systematically patriarchal society results in domestic violence, murder and rape.

Reminds me of a quote by a famous Feminist, Margaret Atwood:

"Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them"

Zartan's quote "Another players girl" (I'm not having a go here Zarts, just an example) implies that player owns the girl, and that the fight was caused by a "disagreement of ownership". The only "fight" that should be happening is a constructive, private, verbal one between the two in the relationship about where the lines are.

I'd argue it's not the construct of patriarchy that results in that. It's that we condition young men to equate masculinity with aggression. If a patriarchy conditioned young men to equate masculinity or strength with qualities like empathy, would a patriarchal society be a bad thing?

and to take it a bit further...

Yet we don't have the same defense mechanism or rules for our Fathers and Brothers? Why?

You equated to someone having consensual sex with your sister with someone ... stealing your wallet! As if someone who slept with your female family member is somehow taking something from you or like an asset you need to lock up and protect.

Your Mum, your Sister, or anyone really, is free and able to sleep with whoever they like, with as many people as they like, as often as they like, provided its consensual and legal. Because they're people. With free will and a right to decide.

This type of thinking is *precisely* what I am talking about. This notion of owning women like possessions, is lead and engineered by our Patriarchal systems - as you say, most men would have the same "moral code", and it can, when things go awry, lead to violence.
