Well the country is pretty damn broke. I couldn't see how this budget would be inspiring.

I thought the budget was pretty sensible and good.

As you pointed out, country is in a fair amount of debt, need to address that.

The Libs have had a fair while to "address" it - all they've done is add to it.

I agree with you there, we have a debt problem at the moment and it does need to be dealt with.

It's spending more money whilst cutting services and slowing the economy and keeping it in deficit. And that's despite getting a heap of revenue from smokers, etc. It's awful (unless you're in the top 1% of earners).
Except for getting rid of some of the bracket creep I just don't see how anyone could find it positive.
Their plan for the unemployed is just what was tried and failed 25 years ago.
There's already unprecedented terrible service in the public service, unprecedented industrial action, no agreements being reached for over 2 years and the budget will make this worse.
I've always voted for the Libs because of their economic policies but this one is awful, incompetent, clueless and aimless.
It'd be completely irresponsible and ignorant to vote them in on this. Don't even get me started on their social policies which are worse than their economic policies.
You'd be a fool to fall for the spin when the facts are so obvious.

Not a very inspiring range of candidates for this year's election

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candidate ... _Australia

Interesting (ironic?) that Matthew Carey is a candidate in the Port Adelaide electorate.

Also - Daniel Kirk an Xenophon candidate.

Perfectly stated.

Our Enterprise agreement ran out in 2014, and the new agreement was voted down for the second time yesterday. Wont get another agreement until after the election now. This government was blatantly hostile towards the federal PS

Disgusting. So a payrise of 0% for the last 2 years for you guys? Bad luck there's a thing called inflation.
I'm sure further cuts will only help.
Looks like the government doesn't want the votes of any public servants or those who use a service. ie most of Australia.
Arrogance.

Yep and the maximum pay rise was 6% over 3 years, which will work out to be 6 over 5.5 or so when it works out.

Their first offer was 4% over 3 years with longer working hours, cuts to a whole bunch of conditions, etc. it was clear from that moment they weren't actually serious, and the unions walked away for nearly a year from bargaining. They magically came back with 6% and most of our conditions retained but they still want to move a whole bunch of conditions from the agreement into policy. They call it "streamlining" but if its policy they can change it when they want

Nope, due tomorrow but the pre erected signs have been a talking point. The memes have been fantastic.

Where are the memes?
Was just about to post I was driving home from the footy and saw Pyne posters everywhere
I saw two kids putting one up on Penfolds Road
I stopped and said "Oi, that's breaking the law"
"No, it's not, we're allowed to do it tonight"
"Who said?"
"Mr Pyne said"

Someone knows something. Saw some Kate Ellis posters up in the city around midnight.
