Both clubs probably played internal trials.
What a waste.
Makes no sense to me.

If they did play an so did all other teams during their bye then get ready for the Grand Final to be held in August before the AFL even starts finals......

Poor crowds across the weekend apart from the much spoken about game at Woodville.
Noarlunga turn out was disappointing given South are playing some good footy, weather was ideal and the reigning premiers were the opposition. Very few opposition fans made the trip on Saturday, but Noarlunga crowds the past couple of years in particular are a concern.

It shouldn't be based on 18 rounds. Simple.
The ridiculous programming is to cater for the reserves. The whole bloody comp revolves around them now.
Those that give a shit the least shall inherit the comp.

Here are the main options for a SANFL schedule with 10 teams
1) As it is now - play 18 games over 22 weeks with many byes
Start season same as AFL, Grand Final one week before AFL Grand Final
Fair draw as in eveyone plays everyone twice.
2) Start same as AFL, play 18 games in say 19 weeks with 1 bye
Grand FInal is played in AFL bye round (1st weekend of September)
Fair Draw, everyone plays everyone twice
3) 18 games in 19 weeks with 1 bye
Grand Final played week before AFL Grand Final
Season Starts around ANZAC Day.
Fair Draw, eveyone plays everyone twice.
4) 20 games over 21 weeks with 1 bye
Starts around AFL start, finishes week before AFL grand FInal.
Not Fair draw, teams play 2 others 3 times, 6 teams twice.
Again - none is perfect
My personal preferences in order
1) Play 20 games
2) Start early, play 18 with 1 bye, finish early
3) As it is now
4) Start late, player 18 with 1 bye, finish 1 week before AFL grand final.
