Caught the Blackwood vs Flagstaff Hill trial game on Sat.
Looked like being a cracker game in the 1st quarter then Blackwood played all over Flagstaff for the last 3 Quarters.
Didn't expect a 90 point flogging though.

Blackwood look a good side in 2016, well drilled, good press and some talent across all lines.
They seem to of picked up some new players this year? 17, 31, 4, and a big fella at CHB.

Flagstaff looked a little lost after 1/4 time, not sure how many out but I could only see 3 -4 regulars not there in A.carey (cricket) M carey, Raitt, Vanders missing.

If Alex Carey gets a SACA contract for next season (which he should) I doubt he will be playing for Flaggies in 2016.

Thanks to Lobethal for the heading down to Brighton for a trial on Saturday. Really good hit out for both clubs having their first trial. Brighton had several very good players missing due to a wedding and cricket and I believe Lobies were also missing a few. Brighton won the B grade by 5 or 6 goals and also won the A grade by 9 points but Lobies played most of the 2nd half with 16 due to only starting with a small bench and copping a few injuries (nothing serious) so Brighton dropped back to 17 during that same period.

I agree on A Carey , was talking to some Flagstaff people Sat, they are not expecting him back anytime soon.

Yep. Its purely a cost issue. IMO that age should be using the leather ball.

Was definitely a good hit out for both sides, thanks Brighton for having the Tigers down there. Lobethal ended up fielding only 15 in the last 1/4 so was a pretty good effort to hang within 8 points of a classy side like Brighton. The 3v6 forward line for the Tigers held up well haha. Loby has about 8 or so to come back into the As and should be there come the next trail against Kilburn at Loby. Unfortunately one of the injuries was pretty serious with one of the young fellas tearing his ACL, devastated to have done it this time of year after having a huge pre season. All the best to Brighton throughout the year as well

Flaggies were pretty dissapointed with how they played after qtr time. One thing to note was Blackwood played 32 and Flaggies only 24, so they had fresh legs for majority of the day. It was also Flaggies first hit out, and you could tell that was the case with a lot of rust being on show.

Quick turnaround for us though, with a 6 qtr trial on Wednesday night. Thanks to Blackwood for hosting a quality day out.

Cost issue? Several Hills Clubs would have spent $40,000 plus on player payments in recent years and will spend the limit under the new rules yet can't "afford" to pay the difference for a maximum of 2 leather size 4 Match balls compared to synthetic balls. If the reason was the wet and muddy conditions encountered in the Hills FL coupled with the early start time for U15 then fair enough, but if it is truly a cost issue then the clubs and the HFL must be kidding themselves.

Sorry, forgot about the wet muddy ground argument, which was also mentioned. This was about 4 years ago when it was discussed so my memory of it isn't the best. The cost issue argument came from clubs in div 2 who were struggling for junior numbers.

Onkas playing Nairne at Ram Park. will be interested in the outcome as both clubs have different agenda's this year
Hahndorf are hosts to Mypolonga. Both clubs will be forces in there respective comps and would want a decent hit out

Just catching up on the forum and see Nairne has been mentioned several times .... They need to prove themselves by winning a GF before being mentioned on the Div 1 thread !

Interesting article in the Courier today about the new sports centre proposal in Mt Barker .... Not sure which was the bigger joke, the lack of car parking for a 4,000 spectator stadium or the reference about who the project was being mainly driven by ! (Bloke Who obviously doesn't know how to use a paintbrush or hire someone that does based on the current 3rd world facilities). .. Other communities are required to fundraise and fight for facility upgrades but Mt Barker expect theirs to be handed out in a plate at the expense of council rate & tax payers ....

Yeah mate, was a 6 quarter game and I watched the first 5. Hahndorfs Bs did it easy in the first 3 quarters. The A grade was very very scrappy. Interesting to see Handby and Wittwer both played last night. Brad Dubious played in the early 3 quarters, correct me if I'm wrong but the only few no notables that were missing were Luke Roberts, Jaensch, J Male and Tripodi. Not sure what the final score was though sorry.
