That requires a reconstruction.

Gone for the season, probably the end of his career, pretty pissed off over this, this big bash is a farce, SA lose one of their top batsman and you can imagine other sides will lose players for the shield comp during the comp and no compensation

You have the right to be angry, everyone does but seriously this could of happened at ANY TIME during the cricket season. Don't blame Twenty 20 cricket for Callum Furguson tearing his ACL, that's ridiculous. He chose to go and play for the Renegades and put himself at the risk of getting injured as much as any other time he steps onto a cricket field for whoever he represents.

What crap. He doesn't have the right to be angry at all. The guy was making a living doing something that a lot of people enjoy. Whether it's test cricket or domestic T20 it's entertainment and ultimately what's more "important" is what people will pay more for. Nobody has a right to be angry. Not the public, not the SACA, not the renegades, not his family and not Ferguson himself. You've only got a right to be angry if someone has done something wrong. This is just bad luck. You can be upset, disappointed and a bunch of other things, but anyone who is angry needs to get back to reality.

Imagine the disappointment for Sydney Sixers fans when Mitchell Starc got injured playing Test Cricket

Redbacks are cursed
Even when things are going good we're only a step away from disaster
Tragedy for Ferguson and the team.

It could've been worse, he could've injured himself on the piss with some mates while on the brink of an Aussie berth.

Re: Sheffield Shield Season 2015/2016
Talk the Redbacks are trying to convince Jayawardene to play out the rest of the shield season, would be a great get IMO. Would replace Ferguson just nicely. Perhaps if we were bottom I'd be against it but since we have set ourselves up for a crack at the shield i reckon if we can get a replacement for Ferg we should go for it.
If they sign Jayawardene does that mean they cant play Cosgrove?

Zampa is in the ODI squad for NZ. He will miss the next two games here. Sayers will be back for the last game of the year

Sayers, Ferguson, Richardson and Zampa all missing some significant games (obviously the season in Ferg's case).
Ah well, was fun while it lasted.

2nd XI game on this week for those wishing to fill the void. Think we can cover the fast bowlers but may struggle for Ferguson and Zampa.

Tom Andrews has one hand on Zampa's spot I think, 6fa at Glenelg yesterday v Queensland and they still have 2 wickets in hand this morning.
of the 8 to fall 7 of them to spin. Cam Valente the only quick to take a pole on what seems to be a Brighton Road.

Glenelg very unhappy with the pitch. Curator will be lucky to see out the year.

Re: Sheffield Shield Season 2015/2016
Apparently this competition is back on
Game starts Wednesday v Queensland.
Squad -
Head
Cooper
Cosgrove
Lehmann
Ludeman
Mennie
Raphael
Ross
Sayers
Worrall
Valente
Andrews
Both Tom Andrews and Cameron Valente yet to debut in the Shield. It's 1 or the other to play IMO. Andrews with a nose in front. Sayers plays this one then off across the ditch.
Very surprised that Raphael gets a shot after speaking with him on the weekend and I quote 'I'm no chance'. Either he was hiding it very well or genuinely had no clue until training this morning....

Re: Sheffield Shield Season 2015/2016
Taking Ferg out of our batting lineup makes it go from looking pretty strong to looking very weak.
I dont really know who are the batters in grade cricket that are ready to step up, maybe you could give us a rundown of the options heater?

Re: Sheffield Shield Season 2015/2016
Well not that much more than what they have gone with. Raphael made a couple of decent club scores recently to get his confidence up. But was comprehensively out scored by his opening partner Kelvin Smith in the past 2 2nd XI matches. However at First Class level Kelvin is only viewed as an opening bat I reckon. Think Travis Head to bat 4, Cooper and Cosgrove open as per last shield match leaving 3 vacant for Raphael and Lehmann at 5. Of those not in the XI from last game barring Lehmann Raphael has the most games under his belt.

Gotta say was amazed they went Raphael instead of Kelvin Smith. Obviously had their minds made up already, as he out batted him in the recent Second X1 match. Having said that, Raph got a stinker decision caught down leg side which he appeared not to hit.
Agree with Heater, think Kelvin is only an opener too. But thought the logical thing to do was open with Cosgrove and Smith, followed by Head, Cooper, Ross and Lehmann. Don't think Cooper is an opener at all, and with Ferg out putting him back to four would have made more sense. Oh well, good opportunity for Raph, top bloke and hope he grabs his (last?) opportunity. Kelvin will be waiting in the wings if he does not.
Only other batter they could possibly play is Alex Carey, he is batting extremely well again, and Ludeman would want to start doing something as he could also replace him as keeper.
Think Tom Andrews will definitely make his debut, with Valente to be 12th man again. He may replace Sayers when he goes to NZ for next game, although thought Benton may have got the gig after how he bowled in Hobart last year.
Hopefully they play well, they look strong with Burns and Usman up the top!
