Be good if Davies returned to SA. He'd be a great personality to have involved in promoting the SANFL.

Wasn't in the 82' side mate. He was a very dependable player, who had to work that bit harder given he was short and perhaps lacked a yard of pace. Took a couple of big clutch grabs late in the 84' Granny.

Cheers JK. Reckon I was part mixing up my Norwood 1980s half-back flankers, like Duncan Fosdike, who I'm quite sure played in 82 and 84 and was a pretty clever defender.

I never saw him play as a centreman in the late 70s and early 80s (cue robranisgod or leaping lindner), only as a half back.
You're right in that he probably never won a game off his own boot, but read the play spectacularly well and was a 'good driver in heavy traffic'. He was one of those players who always seemed to have a bit more time and his composure in defence was a key ingredient in North's mid-80s resurgence and attacking game style.

Think I'll stick to reminiscing about players from my own club from the 80s - household names like Paul Zoontjens, Ian White, Kevin Fischer.
