Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I disagree with you re murder, I think that all murderers despite their intentions have varying degrees of mental illness.
I have no idea if its worth trying to weed people out, that's why I'm asking. Would it be worth taking a certain amount of people out of society if it saves the lives of some innocents?
Doubtful.
Would it be accepted?
No.
Would it make society a better place?
Possibly for some but not for others, would the trade off be worth it?
On a lighter note and more on topic if I could weed out the bad drivers in Adelaide then 95% of people currently on the road would be catching buses or walking!

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
Would saving the relatively low amount of innocent lives taken by mentally ill people be worth the genocide of thousands of mentally ill people that will never hurt a fly?
That's the question.
I don't think it is.
If someone is consciously deciding who lives and dies, they are worse than the people that kill because they can't control their mind. In my opinion anyway.
I 100% agree with your driver statement.
I had one f**kwit cutting in and out around me. Everyone was in the right lane for some reason, he shoots into the left to overtake, nearly rear ends a stationary bus.
Gave me a chuckle on the way home.

I agree even if motivated to a degree by money you have to be mentally ill to some degree to murder someone.
I disagree there should be some sort of screening to remove mentally ill people from society. I think perhaps things might've gone a bit too far with the shutting down of mental institutions and pushing them back out into society though because that hasn't worked. It's a fine line.
Just catching the train the other day a guy who looked like an older uni professor type with big dark sunglasses and bright yellow socks pulled up to his knees came and sat right next to me at the station despite rows of empty seats, as in right up against my bag sitting next to me. I didn't think much of it just thought he was a bit weird. When the train arrived he quickly got up and went behind a wall and started brushing what was left of the hair on his head and then got on down the front, I sat down the back. For the whole bloody trip every 2 minutes or so the guy would stand up turn around and just stare right at me. The first couple of times I looked at him and he just kept staring but after that I tried my hardest to ignore him and just look out the window even though he kept doing it the whole journey probably 8-10 times in total. I seriously thought what if this lunatic has a knife in his bag or something?

they wouldnt need to be removed as such anyway. just relocate them all to Tassie and stop the ferry. or better yet, Canberra, there already seems to be a colony of the mentally ill there.....

No wonder blokes still aren't comfortable talking about their mental problems.
Maybe seek some treatment before they end up killing their kids.

Sadly it's not surprising mate. Blokes still make light of it, joke about it, think it's all fun and games to get a laugh in that macho change room / locker room way.
Part of society will never grow up, some will never show empathy. Maybe they should be "shipped off"?

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Talking to a cop mate yesterday, he said there seems to be more and more of this sort of thing happening with parents - he didn't specify whether he was talking about a specific gender, but interesting, nonetheless.

sure, lets start a list. i volunteer to add Port supporters and cyclists to it too. between the bad drivers, Port supporters, mentally ill, cyclists and those lacking empathy we will all have to live in Tassie together, nice and cosy. have i missed anyone?
i think you two need to adjust your sarcasm filters

There is already an attempt to do this - mental institutions.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I think you are overreacting. in the rush to be seen to be saying the right things on social media these days immediately after something happens, i think people pick up on every little thing and act outraged to fit in. i was poking fun at wedgies idea of segregation, not the mentally ill themselves. taking a bad idea and taking it to rediculous lengths to highlight it.
but whatever, keep assuming i am somehow trying to pick on the mentally ill and encourage them to murder-suicide. thats much easier to be offended about.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that .. I think some people would murder because they don't have a standard moral compass, and perhaps prioritise other things above safety of fellow man.
It's a fair question Wedgie asks though - Even if it's not possible or acceptable to remove people from the public, at least it's exploring any potential options to try and reduce instances of whats occurred in Lincoln.
Tough situation thats only going to get worse into the future with substance abuse induced psychotic illness.

Simply, it would be impossible. While the family in Lincoln knew something was up, they knew he had some demons, they would never have seen this coming.
I've got two mates who battle depression, alcoholism, anxiety, self worth issues but neither of them, IMHO, of course, should just be removed from society ( where do you send them, anyway? ) just "in case" they do something.
I agree there is troubled waters ahead, we're only just seeing the impact of the latest hard drug, ice, on society, I think we're sometime from seeing the full impact of this on all people involved. How many kids are seeing this shit in action and are not yet young adults, how will they get along in the modern world with that upbringing?

I'm more worried about ( and from what my wife is exposed to in early learning / child care ) what the impact of the current users is and will have upon the generations being raised by the current users.
