Although the police have dropped the investigation, Richmond haven't come out and offered any sort of comment about the claims.
She's publicly made claims about a high-profile person which are very damaging to the person's reputation. If they weren't true, I'd have a thought a high-priced lawyer would be employed to deal with this. If he didn't do these things, there's open/shut case there for slander and defamation, from my limited understanding of the law. Be interesting to see if anything happens in that area.

I think you need to have the courage of your convictions sometimes.

Perhaps the media reporting was the means by which she thought Martin should be appropriately punished, think that the club/league would intervene, issue a sanction of some sort, and that would be it.

It's easier said than done to have the courage of your convictions, though. Many have been actively or passively intimidated from giving evidence in court against those with questionable connections, such as those with which Martin seems to associate.

someone on FB commented on a Fox Sports post that the lady had called him a maggot and then brought his dad into it somehow - that was when he reacted.

I stand by what I said a few weeks ago, I think it was blown out of proportion and just some lady looking for her 5 minutes of frame.. sure he shouldn't have acted like that, but clearly there is more to it than the poor innocent victim bullied by the famous footballer side of the story the media ran with and was portrayed..

You make it sound like he's the king of the underground and she may have been frightened for her life... he's a famous footballer - yes granted he may know "questionable people" but you really think he would have that sort of heat come down on him over threatening her with chopsticks?! Seriously though, and all things considered, you're probably right. But I don't think you can discount the effect of Martin's connections and how that might affect someones' judgement when it come to committing to acting against another person legally.

Also doesn't mean I write 'crap' and 'wank'. Been known to do both, though.

Fair question. Does he know what they're for? Perhaps he thought the venue offered patrons complimentary weapons.

One of the very first reports about this story on ABC radio said that Martin had been play acting as a walrus, with a chopstick hanging down either side of his mouth. She told him to "calm down" and then the incident occurred. This detail was never mentioned again to my knowledge. But has had me wondering what steps took place to make him go from clowning around like that to threatening to stab her in the eye with a chopstick. In this did go to court, such details would emerge. In the meantime she's been making comments on behalf of women in general and calling on the AFL to act so she's on the front foot about this, and not afraid of making statements. I think martin was a dick but something else has happened here also.
