Sheedy sacked!

Talk on the national game

Thats a bit of a shock  , but just goes with my theme of the week, Loyalty doesnt win premierships... don't know if I could say he'd had his time with Essendon, but they could have given him the opportunity to jump first.. feel sorry for the bloke who takes over, he'll have some BIG shoes to fill...

You wonder what's going on behind the scenes and who is talking to which new, prospective coach

That could explain the rush to tell the world you have a job vacancy at head coach

They are equal 8th, one game off 7th and with the same % as the Bullies in 7th. Sure they have a hard draw, but they are still a decent chance to make the finals. Even if he wasn't going to be there next year, why get rid of him now? Its pointless. Hounds in the media (Hutchy and Carolyn Wilson) will have a field day with this.

The first game of VFL I watched was the 83 GF - the day I started following the Bombers (because I thought Hawthorn looked gay). He was already 3 years into his coaching stint at that stage!

Hopefully he finds some ambassador role with the AFL instead of coaching elsewhere.

Press conference on now and it appears he will coach the season out. Not a sacking, just a parting of ways.

Sheedy intimated that it was decided between he and Peter Jackson (Extra Mild) in January this year that it would be his last season as coach.

I hope the AFL employ him in a game development/advisory role. I think he has more to offer the game than just coaching.

So he should, lets hope they make the finals and when the season does come to an end it's in Melbourne, because he deserves to have a big send off, (Eagles in Perth last game).

Would love to have Sheedy at the Crows instead of our current coach....

I have not been approached to coach at the WFC this year, next year or any year. I have not approached the WFC to coach this year, next year or any year. This is an unconditional statement.

I only posted the heading as it was reported on 5AA - there was no mention of whther he was going to continue when I posted it originally so blame AA - they gave the impression he was sacked and as it turned out they guessed as he is coaching the year out.

Just to be pedantic (unlike me of course! ) there is little difference in a reality being sacked or not having your contract renewed.

If you were really being pedantic, you would be recognising the differences and not discounting them.

It's catching. I've got it too now. Must stop.

In fairness to BPRBP when I checked news.com.au 1 hour ago the headline read "Sheedy Shafted", and it suggested he could have coached his last game

As an Essendon supporter I will be sorry to see him leave.

I hope he does keep coaching and yes it would be good if he does go back to tiger land although not sure whether richmond will pay out wallace's contract.

Just watchin the press conference -

Sheedy goes on to say I have known all year this was happening - This makes the Mark Harvey delay over in Fremantle even more interesting.
