Working out the front yard.
Neighbours get home from a night out.
I had already started on the beer
They come over which hampered my gardening efforts
However I am now ticking over nicely after a session in the driveway

For my 40th on Friday night some mates chipped in and got me two vouchers with each voucher covering 6 cartons ( so 12 cartons ) from U Brew it.
Can't wait to get there and get into it!!

Well, I went and laid down my first brew on Saturday. Cisco Kid ( Sierra Nevada ) Pale Ale. 5.7%

Had an absolute ball doing it, mind you, the owners insisting on your glass always being full while doing your brew didn't hurt! ( Especially at 6.1% on the tap!) They said "What sort of bloke brews beer and asks his mates to pay for it?". That's the kicker. He's only selling you ingredients, not beer, if he did he'd need a licence and you'd need to pay tax. By simply selling you ingredients and you "borrow" his equipment and fridge means he's just a mate helping you do some home brewing.

You measure all the ingredients out, mix it, "cook" it, then they watch it for two weeks until you come back and bottle it.They then have it cold, carbonated and plumbed to a tap for you to bottle and cap upon your return. It's a great set up, the owners are ripping fella's and I can't wait to get back there and bottle by brews up. At $30 per carton ( and $50 for 144 bottles ) it works out to around $38 per carton of preservative free top shelf brew.

I think I've found heaven!!!

Great work Booney.....and you have definitely found heaven.

What was your recipe?

And the great thing about home Brew, it can be as cheap as you want it to be by just the kit n kilo which is roughly $20 for a 23 litre Brew or anything upto the $60+ depending on your Malt editions and hops etc...and 20litres is 2.5 cartons....

I got the bro in law onto it for his birthday and now his 21yo lad is into it as well.

Nice. I might give that a whirl myself but substitute the dextrose for a dry Malt extract

This maybe the longest 2 weeks of your life as you wait for your baby to ferment.

The good thing about Hoppy beer is that it is best to drink young so the hop flavour is still strong as it can disappear over time.

Yeah, I know, I've been right on top of it a couple of times and then a personal tragedy comes along where I end up drinking a fair bit and the ciggy's go hand in hand.
I have all the right reasons now and my head's in a good space, driving is my downfall generally.

Cheers mate, the kids give me a fair amount of grief about smoking and I know they are right. I'm not a heavy smoker and most days I don't have my first one until I finish work for the day, some days I go without.
