Re: Crows 2015
I don't think anyone rated Poulos before this year also after Schwerdt left and look what happened. Give the guy a go. Haters gonna hate.

Thanks Tay tay.
Anywho, Brisbane have hardly been the pace setter for high physical performance in recent times so people questioning the Burton appointment have every right to do so.
Time will tell.
Was Poulos not under Schwerdt for some time as an assistant?

Re: Crows 2015
Yeah he was.
As much as people want to beleive they blindly appoint people from the boys club, they would have done their due diligence on him even knowing what happened at Brisbane the last couple of years.
Apparently the first three years he was there their injury list was quite low.

Re: Crows 2015
Andy Otten signs on until the end of 2017 despite offers from other clubs.
The restricted free agent says he owes Adelaide for being patient and having faith in him during his recovery from an ACL.

Otten is an interesting one - dont see him in our best 22 anymore, Cheney and Lever are now ahead of him.

Is very interesting.
2 year deal for a 26 year old who is not in your best 22 and has been renowned for having issues with injuries albeit shown glimpses of brilliance.
I would have been interested to see what kind of weight he would have carried at the trade table.
Not just Crow bashing but to me the Crows have far to many of these 'serviceable' middle age players on their list which kept them around that 6-10 position but never truly threaten for a premiership.

Agreed, although having players like Otten on the list provides depth, and that's necessary in the modern environment. I guess it comes down to what they're paying him to hang around and whether a fringe player is worth it.

I'd say average / low money with game bonuses and being an older head in among the SANFL squad would benefit.

i dunno, i think you need these sorts of guys on your list - if he is playing every week that is more worrying (like mackay and VB)
you probably need at least 30 guys who can play AFL footy, and he is closer to the 30th player than the 22nd but as booney said he would be on bugger all if he doesnt play, so i dont hate it

Agree and its potentially a smart move if the draft ends up as weak as people are suggesting.
Its hard though because another year of him on your list is another position on your list which is going to developing your next premiership player.

Re: Crows 2015
I personally think it's a good move. Solid depth in defence to a bloke who takes your 2nd or 3rd best opposition forward and has a solid record in doing so when remotely fit. It's a plan B or C which the top clubs all have.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Re: Crows 2015
I'm more suprised by signing Sam Shaw for two more years than Otten. Otten has shown when fit he can hold his spot in the 22.
Also from the delistings, VB and McKay are very lucky we don't have much speed on the outside otherwise gonski

McKay has 3 more years on contract supposedly of 400K ish. dont reckon crows would pay him out 1.2 million just to free up a spot
