Playing against someone who is younger than your career

This will make Ben Hart feel old; on the weekend, the opposing team had a player who is 70 days younger than Harts' SANFL career. Samuel Mardling made his League debut on the weekend, he was born on the 2nd of December 1990. Hart made his debut in the 1st Semi Final of 1990, on the 23rd of September. We may have to go back to Grantley Fielke (career from 1979 to 1997) for this last to occur.

Its funny because I still think of Ben Hart as a baby because he played league footy for us young and regular AFL games so young, who would have thought back in 1990 that he'd still be playing pretty decent footy (when he gets on the ball park) in 2007!!
Another interesting stat is that despite North sitting 3rd he hasn't played in a winning side this year despite being in our best half a dozen players in the 3 games he's played!

Doesnt count, he's not playing SANFL and wont come back.

Ralph Sewer would have been playing against/with players years younger than his career. Remember reading somewhere that he is one of a few if not the only player to have played in 4 decades, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.

Possibly Tony McGuinness in 1998 if Josh Contin or Josh Pearce played in the same game. I will need to check.

Nah he made his debut in 1991, only played 2s and 19s in 1990

Don't think so for McDermott, but Platten is a possibility. I only used Fielke as a guide to when it may have last happened.

Ralph Sewer would have played against quite a few. I think Peter Carey played in a game against David Niemann and that would be another.

Kim Klomp? Played his last game in 1997 I think. Began his career in early eighties (unsure, I think he won the U19's Tomkins medal while playing for Sturt in 1979) Possibly had a few team mates that were about 17 years old from that 1997 squad. We had a very young side back then.

I think he did have a season or two with Sturt to begin with, yes. He certainly won the Tomkins in 1979, and prior to 1994 (not sure what years) he had played 25 matches with Sturt, finishing his career there with 9 matches in 1996.
