Not Stokes I reckon. And McIntosh is probably gone as well. Boris will play on.

Really? I'll take it straight from the cats mouth that it's true, I've just seen Johnson look like an old man at moments this year.
I believe Johnson has something to contribute next year but how he finishes this season will tell the tale. He had an interrupted pre-season and simply wasn't fit enough. If he can finish the year strongly then the problem was that he was underdone rather than he's finished. I'm hoping he continues the way he has in recent weeks in trying to give the first option instead of the low percentage bullshit he served up at the start of the season.
Mackie and Bartel will go around again. Bartel is still versatile and there is plenty of run and kicking penetration in Mackies legs. I think Boris will go around again as the emergence of Thurlow and Bews (yes I know he's omitted this week) has eased a bit of oressure on him.
Those that will go include McIntosh and Kelly. Kelly has been injured several times this year, his body is screaming "enough!". The McIntosh experiment has not worked and he should be delisted. I reckon Stokes is done. Not so much for injuries but he just can't seem to get the ball. Rivers is another player struggling to stay on the park and the end might also be near for Lonnegan. A younger player who is in a bit of bother is Lincoln MCCarthy and there is also pressure on Simpson, Menzel and Cowan.
Not sure what the rules are in terms if how many you can delist but for me it would be Simpson, McIntosh, Blease with Kel, Stokes and maybe a Rivers to retire.

Bartel
Kelly
Mackie
Enright
Stokes
Lonergan
Taylor
Stevie J
Rivers
Taylor is the least of our worries.

Corona Man wrote:Serious question to REB - do you think Geelong will move on some of your older guys at seasons end, and if so who? I think its a real tricky one for you guys, as a number of them have been fantastic servants of your club..... Would like to see one of the younger SA boys drafted recently get a game but he has not cracked one just yet. Been close, but had an injury setback I think, that has played a part....Interested on your take on that as well... do they start getting games into the young blokes REB?
Gidday mate. I've answered your question about who stays and who goes but I wasn't aware that Rivers was going to pull the pin. Geelong have been trying to phase out the retirements of our premiership stars and that is fine. What I'm not fine with us the recruitment of Rivers, MCIntosh, Blease and Clark. The recruitment of Stanley and Caddy I am happy with because they fit the age profile if what we need. Now Rivers has been a good recruit and Clark May prove to be but I can never see us teaching Blease how to tackle or McIntosh walk without crutches.
I'm also not all that pleased about the rumoured Dangerfield, Henderson and Selwood grab. Let's play the kids, let's go to the draft. We aren't in a premiership window. Let's delist some of these guys that can't get on the park, some of them are being kept on potential only. I want to see Jensen in the middle, not Dangerfield. We let Hamling go to the Bulldogs while we kept Rivers.
To do a Luke Darcy, I like the way the Saints, Collingwood and to a lesser extent the Bulldogs have gone about it. They made tough calls and all three clubs are bristling with young talent. The team that appears to hanging on like us is North Melbourne. I don't want us to become Richmond and finish 7-10 every year. I'd cop a couple of years at 10-14 as long as we started drafting well again.
A few years of crap is nothing when you had to wait until your 41 to see a flag. Expecting the next generation to be as good as the 2007-11 era is like expecting Lyon to be better than Shane Warne. However, like Lyon, the new breed can carve out some success for themselves as Lyon has done provided we give the 'big fish' approach the flick and go back to the draft.
Short answer, yes. Play the kids.

Good to hear from a Cats supporters perspective REB. As a Hawk fan I have spent a fair while dis-liking the Cats, but you have to respect the way a number of those blokes have gone about it. I have an interest in one of the young guys on their list so I am keeping an eye out for him to make his debut, hopefully sometime soon.
Benny Macca - well done on those heat maps, assuming they are reasonably accurate, they give a good insight into where players gather their possesions.

Champion data do them so you would think they would be pretty accurate

Do you definitely have to have the AFL live pass to access them?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, there was a time he was almost the premier ruckman in the comp, I guess that drafted him out of hope, sometimes you win.

Re: Geelong 2015
Good luck Hamish. You had a crack but your body didn't let you become the player everyone wanted you to be, even yourself. Good footballer who couldn't get on the park in the end.
