Something else I rate: sticking to my no-Facebook rule. I decided to piss it off because it's a terrible distraction and I've got to write 40000 words in between now and September. I've been on there once to announce MM and I are getting spliced but I've been avoiding it otherwise. I only wish I'd done it sooner, because not only am I getting a s***load of work done, but my day is now free of passive-aggressive posts, Candy Crush requests, and toilet selfies at the Grand.

I know where you're coming from, I deactivated mine for a month and got heaps of work done.

The best thing to do is unfollow all of the people that annoy you. That is different to defriending so they dont get all butthurt about it, but you still dont have to see their posts

I almost use it as a news aggregator in a lot of ways, though twitter is better for that purpose.

another big advantage is the ease at which you can set up a small group or invite. it makes it so easy to communicate with a lot of people quickly.

So there are big advantages if you are prepared to put up with and or block the crap that comes with it.
