Re: Carlton 2015
Whether you like him or not, Bassett's record is pretty good A lot of people forget that he started with a team coming off a 7th place finish, having made the finals only once in 6 years and including a wooden spoon. Got Norwood up pretty quickly with a GF in his 1st year, then managed to oversee B2B flags.
I dont even know if he's a legitimate contender, or whether he'd be the best option, but I know he'd be far from the worst.

Fully agree, just think he wouldnt be the right fit at Carlton. Would clash with too many of the hierachy. There is also the issue of Trigg still there

Re: Carlton 2015
What a great bloody game!
Had a few appointments about town today, missed portions of the game, heard most of it on the radio in the car and saw the full final quarter on TV with some good Sturt folk who helped me cheer the Blues across the line.
Had a good feeling going in to this game, thought they'd still be hungry after last week. There's nothing like it in the AFL when the old Navy Blues walk off the battle field heads held high with the 4 points.

I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Stirring stuff.
I'm just over the border in vic so no TV coverage but another great G Wheatley and A White call did the job.
The closest place to watch it was the Frances pub, but getting home is the problem.
Beers were cold at home, cleaned the shed and even got the ride-on mower operational later on whilst listening. To top it off, my little bloke demanded he sleep in his Blues guernsey he's worn all day.
Outstanding.

I it's more the stressful environment that was around with Malthouse was strangling the players. They are playing with so much more freedom now. It's almost like a massive release of tension at the club.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Unfourtunately was always going to happen. Great tackle 10 years ago, not so much these days.

Two motions in the tackle with intent to hurt. Was always going to get a holiday after that...

The onus on the tackler to show some care, once the arms are pinned and you have the bloke off balance and his path to the ground is dictated by you, you need to be careful.

Maybe the news of a rugby league player dying from a similar tackle from the weekend may have impacted view of the AFL

Either you're a mind reader, you've personally spoken to Gibbs post match OR you are guessing.
I'll take the third option thanks.

From experience on a footy field. 9 times out of 10 players tackle with the intent to hurt their opponent to effect impact for rest of the game. Gibbs did not need to sling Gray to the ground, he had the arms pin and all he had to do is drop the knees.

He ( Gibbs ) didn't do it to make claim for a holding the ball free kick, put it that way.
