Kane Cornes' book

Post by Old Dog New Tricks »

Can someone please offer some reason what Kane Cornes might think is of interest to the great unwashed that he would pen a biography. Give me a spell. The ego on the Cornes clan is frightening.

Not that I'll be buying it, but don't really have an issue with him writing one. 300+ games by the time he retires and has achieved a lot in the game.

Agree about the Cornes ego though.

Timing not ideal when you are still playing.

Perfectly ideal. A wonderful servant and champion Kane has been, but he's not had a superstar or colourful career.
Interest in his book, in this small market, will be higher now than it will be this time next year (if he finishes up this season, as expected).
It's why Ryan Harris released his book last year, he knew doing so after his career would see sales potential reduced.

Son of an SA legend playing for the club who his father despised, his eldest son went through something no parent would want to experience, 2 X AA, 4 times B'n'F. 10 times top 3 B'n'F, premiership player soon to be 300 gamer.

Fair resume and life story to tell.

Not sure I'll rush out to buy it though.

He was colourful - drinking, women, gambling - all the ingredients of an interesting tabloid-style read.
Pretty easy to see why he was able to.

The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

He certainly opens up about his upbringing and associated drama in it. The 2001-2004 section is quite interesting especially with the benefit of hindsight.

Heard he is retiring after game 300....book launch makes sense now but what doesnt make sense is abandoning your team during a seaon when they should be challenging for the flag.

Life after football? My understanding is the next intake of Firies may not be for upwards of 2-3 years and he will then have to re-sit it all again.

Dom did it when he retired. (Mid year I mean)

Didn't realise the intake was like that. That makes sense. Even so, I am surprised he would not want to hang around for one last tilt at the flag.

That is correct about the firies, we may be losing a couple of employees over the next couple of months
