Gutsy win by the Bombers, they've shown a lot of pluck in Hirds time as coach. Didn't see anything today though to suggest the Hawks won't take a shed load of stopping yet again this year.

Not a bombers fan by any stretch but that was an incredible finish.

5 more seconds and Breust was in as well

Gutted about todays performance, not in as so much that we lost but the fact we chose to play 40 minutes of football for the whole day. Essendon out tackled and out pressured us for most of the first half but most disappointing that when we got out to a 16 point lead in the last quarter the players put the cue in the rack thinking the job was done. One thing that mob has is spirit and to their credit they never gave up.
Hate losing to that mob but reckon they will win their fair share of games, have a real steely resolve.
Hopefully ASADA catch up with them before finals lol

It's funny because the Power supporters near where I was, many of them wearing the 'Never Tear us Apart' shirts, started turning on each other in the last quarter. I thought it was quite ironic the way things degenerated. Then, in the 'Never Give Up' spirit, plenty of them upped and left with 10 minutes remaining, which kind of surprised me given that it's Round 2 and they were playing one of the better teams. Things aren't going to get any easier for them.

Port were also 0 & 2 to start 02 & 03 yet claimed both minor premierships. Don't write them off.

Hooker's match winning goal aside he had some big moments at the back, as did a few other Bombers

certainly not writing them off, but it is great to see :D

Also love reading on FB the port and cow supporters get stuck into each other... But the funniest thing i read from a port supporter that Franklin should get 3 games for his bump on Boak? in the last

and were the port supporters booing or saying boo-uddy on saturday night??

They were also 0 & 2 in 2011 and only were ahead of Gold Coast on the ladder at the end of the year coming 16th.
Surely 2011 is a bit more relevent than 02 and 03?

2011 is not relevant at all, neither is 02 and 03 though.

2011 was our very worst we had to offer on and off field, far too much has changed to even consider comparing the club from then to now. Let alone comparing the game from then to now.

Carlton thought the 00’s were painful after their draft sanctions, that’s got nothing on what they’ve got ahead of them. *smiles*

Bulldogs are exciting to watch and have some real top shelf mid’s to work with and I think did the right thing chasing Boyd ( paid overs, but they need a big unit to kick to ). Richmond, I’d have the balls to tell people I changed clubs, I’d take that ridicule over the pain of barracking for them.

Gaz is playing less than 50%, surely, he’s laid one tackle in two games, the rest of the side hasn’t laid many more though! Rocket has some work ahead of him, not a free kick to finals wins that he thought.

Adelaide are genuine, but thin, they’ll need every ounce of luck to keep Jacobs ( who is very durable ), Talia, Hartigan and Jenkins all fit. If they do, they can be top 4.

Port peaked too early last year, I think we learnt from that, but Freo and Sydney aren’t sides to give players “a run” against. It hasn’t paid off, or has it? They ( Wingard, Trengove, Hartlett ) might all be better for “a run”. Massive week ahead, North then the Hawks and Crows. My chin(s) are still up though.

GWS, I think, went ahead of the Suns last year in my finals expectations. Saturday showed it, if you’re a genuine side, you beat Melbourne this year.

Geelong are cooked mate, Enright will have to much work for his old legs this year, Bartel can’t be played everywhere and Kelly has a mind moving faster than his legs while the “next” group appear to be going nowhere. Fremantle have added some attack to their game style, it’s pleasing to see. Better than shut down fall asleep footy.

Kanga’s couldn’t have asked for a softer match up after their round 1 disaster. Brisbane are fickle at full strength and seriously suspect when they’ve got a gun or two out. Who will kick goals for the Bears?

Hawthorn will be livid, seriously livid this morning. They had the Bombers cooked with 10 minutes to go and took the foot off. Essendon kept fighting, good on them, no, screw them, cheats. Hawthorn players ( Hodge, Lewis and Burgoyne ) all were smiling after the game. Pretty much “Oh well, it’s round 2, who cares”. Good luck whoever has them next week!

As thin as Brisbane are up forward, they appear to have the same issue down back. Were thin there for the last coupla seasons before losing their B&F (Patfull). Merrett and Maguire good honest stalwarts who can play, but they should get clobbered by several opposition attacks this season.

the older Catters do appear to be a little slow and I do agree that their minds are working quicker than the body is, but I do see some promising signs from the youngsters. just gotta get the games into them.

once they click it into gear we will win our fair share of matches
