I find it difficult to feel any empathy or pity for these guys and then feel the same way about children who have battled and not made it - maybe its levels of empathy but the way I see it - as much as I disagree with it - death penalty is the maximum punishment for drug smugglers in Indonesia - has been this way for as long as I have been around and is 100% avoidable - don't smuggle drugs - its that simple IMO.
I read the article on the boy from the Barossa in the weekends paper and had a lump in my throat - I don't know him or his family but to have his life cut so short is the real tragedy. Again this is only my opinion and for what its worth I am against the death penalty and if they get to live than that is good but if they die then I personally will not feel the same way as I do when others pass.

Im an advocate of the death penalty but I would be more than happy for them to spend the rest of their lives to rot in a Bali jail, no getting out early and definately not bringing them back here to complete their sentence

In a nutshell, legalise some drugs, use the tax return to spend on education, health and rehabilitation programs.

Black markets then sell unregulated poor quality drugs at cheaper than the regulated rates.

I think that's the issue for me. Legalise "some drugs". What drugs? Won't people get introduced to the 'next/greatest' thing and therefore get into illicit drugs anyway?
What's it stopping? I really don't get how it will fix anything.
I'm certainly not having a go at you, I wanna learn! My kids aren't even teenagers yet, but I know they'll get exposed to it before too long and I want to be prepared - or prepared as I can.
