The BOM only forecasts for Elizabeth, Nuri and Roseworthy so you are limited to those three forecasts.

Nuri is usually a few degrees lower than the other two so I can see why people went to Elizabeth. There was one game a few years ago where we were the only association that played as it was 40 almost everywhere else in the state bar Nuriootpa and it was certainly not less than 40 degrees at the Dog Track that day...

What do people think about changing the designated temperature from the TV news to the BOM website? They update their next day forecast at around 4pm each day and that is what is used by the TV news. Everyone has the internet these days and it saves waiting for the news....

The smart ones do look at the 4pm forecast mate.
Yeah I think that the BOM would be a logical step, but perhaps taking the Saturday morning update would be better. I think ATCA go by the 9 or 10am update on the BOM

Forecasts are still saying 40 for Elizabeth and Roseworthy and 37 for Nuri and Clare. IMO opinion it will be pretty ridiculous if we are not playing this Sarurday, hopefully they drop Elizabeth by 1 yet

Pretty sure the BOM only do 2 Updates a day one around 5am the other around 4-5pm. So you can call it as early as you want saturday morning. Although it could ruin your day if you have been on the cups the friday night and she goes down to 39 haha.

Since the rule change I cannot think of a day where it has been called off due to heat and it wasn't 40 right across the board. obviously this weekend might be that one, I still think Elizabeth is the best option, yes you might argue its a barossa comp so Nuri is the best. But you have to think about the people that have to play everywhere else. Freeling, Riverton, saddleworth, Gawler, Morgan, Mallala, & Truro all likely to be 40+ if the forecast is correct. Nuri is more than likely to be a couple degrees lower than alot of the Comp.

The whole reason we have this rule is for safety and duty of care so cannot ignore the 40 forecast. also hard to blame one bloke for the rule change these things do get voted on.

Yes, the BOM does an update around 4:15pm daily and that is what the 3 main news programs go by.

There has to be a number, most comps use 40 as their magic number, although it can be a pain in the arse as they usually come into affect closer to finals but at the end of the day it's community cricket , I think everyone clamped down after there was a death in the ATCA a few years ago.

Going off the previous night's news bulletin is ideal, there's no mad panic in the morning and players can use the opportunity to make alternative arrangements for the day.

Should we split the comp into zones for the hot weather policy? Wouldnt be too much different to rain effected games where some play and some dont.
Gawler, Freeling, Mallala, Eudunda, Gilbert Valley and Morgan go by Elizabeth.
Lyndoch, Sandy Creek, Nuri, Tanunda, Angaston, Truro, Greenock, Light Pass and Kapunda go by Nuri.

Funny thing is last year Nuri was predicated at 41C and Elizabeth 38c yet everyone then was quite happy to play under Elizabeth temp, when I brought the subject up then about the heat policy should be Nuri, I was shot down in flames and abused, funny how people want things their way !!

With cricket looking at being called off this weekend, how does the points work on a 2 day game, thinking with Mallala now having a bye their finals chances are sunk?

Would think everyone gets 5 points apart from the side with the bye.
If you could win your last game outright you may sneak in

Would have to hope Greenock don't score anything next rnd and then slip up last round

It is what it is, Did hear a rumour that the because of all the heat rules across all sorts of sports on Saturdays that the BOM add 2 degrees to their forecast's to cover their ass when its going to be a hottish day. That would explain why it just seems to be saturdays that have the 40's. Maybe we need to outsmart them and raise our cut off temp to 42?
