Re: Grade Cricket
Redbacks playing today I believe.
Clubs should get all their college kids back from now on, state U17's back plus all Uni/school exams finished up so gets a bit easier from here.

Must be tough being a regular in this team. They have actually played out one game (for a loss) in 6 rounds to date. TTG has only played 2.

A good game at Henley on the weekend. ND declared overnight at 5/362 with Cosgrove making a century. WT bowled out after 95.2 overs for 358 with Kelvin Smith making 154. Looks like a scorecard from the old Salisbury days in the 90's.

Re: Grade Cricket
Lawford fresh off a pair and 1/40 off 9 overs on the weekend, straight into the Shield side.
I know blokes pulled out but Nick Benton with 64 grade wickets in the last 16 games must be a bit unlucky to not make the 12?

There is no doubt Darren Berry has his favourites, and Lawford is obviously one.
Could not have picked him after his last couple of games, but heh, he has the best figures so far down in Hobart today, so Chuck may know more than we think!
Benton appears to be where Chadd Sayers was a few years ago, after he takes 50 to 60 wickets a season for three years in a row, he may get looked at!

Re: Grade Cricket
Benton is in the Emerging Redbacks Squad, but has not played any Second X1 games yet this season.
Has been injured so did not bowl till Round 3 of Grade cricket, just getting going now really.

Would have thought Cam Valente would be in front of him based on this season's performances. Came into the season with strong winter form in the Hampshire leagues, had a good Premier League Season, played futures league and was in the squad for 1 shield match.

Cam is a very good young bowler, I have not faced him this season though. However from my previous outings against them both, I personally feel as though Benno would be a better option at the moment if both guys are 100% fit. He has pace and bounce and has the weight of wickets behind him. Cam i feel may get the Chadd Sayers treatment, unless the SACA's learn from the Sayers experiment and give the kid a decent crack. There is still plenty of time for him at least being a young buck (or should I say Buff) and all. I'd rather see Cam in the squad than Alex Gregory though.

Re: Grade Cricket
What about Opie?
Above Valente as a bowler and more experienced.
He's been up and about for a while now.

I think there may be an issue with his pace. He's had a few opportunities im fairly sure, I think he and tjitjens (sic) were given a run a few years back after a good run for their clubs

Cam Valente 2014 not in the same class as Chadd Sayers 2008-2011.
Decent cricketer but a LONG way to go to be compared to Sayers.

Re: Grade Cricket
They seemed to have scaled the 2nd XI/Futures stuff right back. Only 3 or so games a season now? Used to be half a dozen or more.
Would be great to see Valente, Benton, Opie bowl more often at that level. See if they're up to taking the next step.

Re: Grade Cricket
See the Adelaide vs Northern A Grade game at Glandore Oval got under way.
Does that mean under SACA rules, any game that gets under way tomorrow has to be played under 2 day rules?
If no games started today, all would have been one day games.
Makes results tough to get now tomorrow, although rain may prevent this anyway.
Uni and Kensy off already, why was this being played at Park 10 with no covers instead of Uni Oval?

Re: Grade Cricket
Prospect v Glenelg.
Today's play called off.
Why wouldn't they have a one dayer tmrw for games that abandoned today's play.
Games that get away today will end up having a result tmrw.

Nope. This is how they A Grade played in the rain affected round back in November. If one game begins under 2 day rules then all games will be played under those rules.
