Happy to say the Nairne Oval Committee have invested allot of time and money to increase drainage, remove poor soil and then replace with new soil and returf to help improve the overall condition of the oval. Stage two is about to start which will include improved drainage around the far side driveway along with the development of a second smaller oval to play most of our modified games.

A truly wonderful community effort by all the sporting clubs and our the Nairne Market to make this happen. Let's hope it holds up better during the wet months, confident it will but only time will tell.

Good to hear RAMS, well done to your club.

Have heard some big news out of bridgy, with the likely inclusion of returning locals john McDonald and Craig Evans. That will be huge for them and further their improvement which has occurred over the past few years.

Might be jumping the gun a little there batman…..but fingers crossed.

While we're super keen to get ex-Bridgy juniors such as McDonald and Evans back to our club, our ongoing improvement at Bridgy will ultimately be underpinned by our decision to invest in our youth programmes a few years ago.

Our small club has had 3 of the last 4 mail medallists in Senior and Junior Colts who, subject to their SANFL journey, will play A-Grade for the Raiders for the next decade. Add them to the nine teenagers who played A-Grade this year, and you can see why we’re confident in the sustainable way we’re building our club.

No problem elmer, just had heard the rumour that there was a fair chance that they would be back at bridgy, would be good if they were! Yeah I love the way you blokes are building rather then just going out throwing money around, like you guys did in previous years or like other clubs are doing now. Got some really talented juniors coming through and you have recruited well on top of that, with curkpatrick, Mitchell and hopefully barber getting his body right. Good years coming up ahead for bridgy in my opinion.

Yeah its good to see Bridgewater with good junior numbers. For the second year in a row you'll have teams in all modis age groups which is a fantastic effort. Also Uraidla's getting some decent modis numbers which is great to see.

Is this new investing in your juniors. Meadows have been doing this for years have a look at how many mail junior medallists they have had in the last five years. Two juniors played state footie one named all Australian one being apart of the winning u16 state team, not to mention Brady Dawe 3 time premiership player with Norwood. 75% of the senior side who have played junior colts at Meadows.

But you could hardly say that it has resulted in success at senior level there a grade has struggled the last few years with not much sign of improvement

I for one actually agree with the way Echunga interpret the by-law.

It is not their fault it is poorly written.

Like all rules in competition, they are there to be followed AND interpreted.

I personally think they have a very good case.

I've breifly read over a few pages in all this, got lost along the way a few times so I have a couple of broader questions to ask.

Why are there still 2 divisions??

If you just had 2 leagues, teams set, expectation on numbers and teams etc, then this whole promotion relegation rubbish wouldn't even be a question.

Why are the measurements on promtion different to thos on relegation?

Who can you 'punish' a team because of one set of circumstances, yet promote a team who could possibly perform worse if measured the same measurements (though I understand thats not the case with Mt Lofty this year)?

Been away for a while and just reading through about ten pages of comments, there seems to be a lot of people on here who think it is stupid to demote Echunga after the win but that "Rules are Rules".
I have to ask, how long ago were these rules written?
Because with the points system you would almost say it's lawfully wrong to allocate different recruiting points to each club in the Central Division and would be even worse to increase a clubs points allocation mid season.
Let's have some common sense here, surely the club coming up should have the most points? Basically the league have helped TV stay in Central Division by allocating them more points than Echunga? Surely there is a legal challenge right there???
How do you make your B grade side better? BY either recruiting better A graders or by recruiting better B graders. So giving TV more points allows them to have a stronger B grade side!
Look at the SAAFL, most B grade sides struggle the first year of promotion and I think it would be similar to the junior sides, you are going into a better league, of course it's going to be harder to win games.
Echunga did exactly what they should have done by playing players down in the B grade, it's within the rules, just not the spirit of the game which is the fault of the rules.
From a clubs point of view if you are coming up to the Central League and feel you may struggle to win in the A grade would you not be better off when you play the better A grade sides to simply play your A grade side in the B grade to ensure 5 points? Keep those juniors who would normally play senior football down in their respective junior sides to try and win points there? Don't allow kids who play for Sturt or whoever to play for their league club that week and play for Echunga to win?
People complain that their B grade got belted, how would the clubs feel if Echunga played their A grade side in B grade and vice versa?
This is what the rules may force clubs to do to stay in the Central League, which is a joke.
The rules need to be changed regardless.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!
