The petrol saviings alone over a year makes it worth it.

Ok, needed petrol so went to fill up at Costco.
To get the $1.18 price, you need to be a member.
Don't go there with cash, its card only and it's prepay.
1) insert member card to determine which price you get - I'm assuming you could give your card to anyone to do this and get a cheap price.
2) insert your credit card
3) choose amount of petrol - had choices of $20, $50 etc.. - UH OH - most people wouldn't have a clue how much petrol will fill up their card. Luckily I'm a bit cluey like this, I have a 55L tank and my light just came on, so I knew $50 would do the trick
4) lift nozzle, fill car
5) remove your card.
There were people showing clueless people what to do, but i wonder what would happen if you requested $50 of petrol and your car only needed $40? Are there big petrol spills? Do you get a credit?
As a matter of interest, the Coles express next door was price matching but the line up was phenominal - the Fly Buys points weren't that important to me.
Going to Costco tomorrow morning.
Report pending....

bennymacca wrote:i don't see an issue with that. places like hotels do it all the time. non issue imo. it isn't like "stealing" as the person quoted suggests, they don't actually take that money out of your account

the money never comes out of your account - it just goes on as a "pending charge" on your credit card, and just sits there for 3 days, and then wont actually be charged. i guess if you are close to maxing our your card it will be an issue.
usually within three days, but it can take up to 14

ACTUALLY, article says, and I quote
usually within three days, but it can take up to 14
And I never said they take it, but you can't spend it. A lot of times in the last year I have come down to my last $2 before I get paid again, so that $10 could be the difference between eating dinner or not.
