Have any recent Shield players dropped out of the grade system at any stage 14-18 years of age and returned to make elite level cricket?

Were all the shield players in the grade system at 14?

Weren't the Jets really short of senior players the other week? I know of some people getting phone calls to play C and D Grade who hadn't been down there in years...

Is the grade system all that healthy outside of the top grades?

I think you are on the money here Extractor - You only have to read between the lines of what Darren Berry is complaining about on the radio, South Australia's grade system is seriously lacking in the ability stakes. It's a real shame.

Northerns have the bye this round.

Played last week and conceded over 300 in 50 overs. Could only muster 100 in reply.

When you take into account the registration fees, the travel and the training, it makes more sense to play Adelaide Turf or in the local comps, only the die hards seem to stick around and the rest of the team gets filled with kids.

What a week makes... freeling make 350 against nuri. The nuri bowling grenades and have south at 4/13 after 1/2 hour. Doesn't make good reading for south after the Freeling boys hit nuri all over the park last week

What do people think , in the A1s should the central umpire be allowed to overall a decision made by square leg, (ie stumping , runout if it's obvious ) just asking the question as there was a incident in our game today where the umpire said to me he would've overalled if he could've ?? I'm not having a go because I probably would've made the same decision but I'm just asking peoples thought??

Well done to sandy today to only lose 6 wickets all day their imports look ok... Really like the look of the left handed kid at the end Koch I think was his name..
Happy with my boys to toil away all day and keep the score under 250 set up for a good run chase

Freeling $2.50
Sandy creek $3.50
Angaston $5.00
Gilbert Valley $7.00
Nuri $15.00
Kapunda / Gawler Central $19.00
South Gawler $25.00

I still think there are some juicy odds here and all 8 teams could still win it.

I'll put a pineapple on Ango at $5's though ;)

Ango are my $1.50 favs

Wont get 3.50 now for Sandy Creek, awesome innings today keeping the Ango attack at bay, would have to be 2.10 favourites now
I'd be snapping up the $3.50 for Sandy Creek, wont be at those juicy odds for long.
Did you leave a zero of the Nuri odds, should be 150/1, wont win a game

The batsman should probably just keep running to the pavillion in a case like today which in fairness he did but when he got to the square leg umpire he was sent back ;)

So you would've made the same call as the square leg did? Then why call the square leg a disgrace and a f***ing cheat. I don't have a cheating bone in my body and play the game honestly and fairly, I don't have a problem firing my team mates if I think it's out. I didn't think Bill was out, but hey why don't the association spend some money and supply GoPro cameras for square leg umpires.
Bring on next week

Because that's the way I am , handsy. In the heat of the game things get said but especially when a umpire says he would over rule the decision that just fired me up more... It didn't cost us anything as he got out soon after but probably would've been worse if it was someone who could bat though,

What were the digs ??? Short memories??? Pretty sure I wrote that I would've made the same decision, maybe get someone to read the post to you norm and explain it.. Didn't have a dig at all. Then I said well done to you guys, your a disgrace mate, only see what you want to see...

. Yep bring on next week bill we all might sit in the grandstand and yell stupid childish shit out... That might be half the reason you can't get a coaching gig , who wants what you did yesterday running a footy club

Talk about short memories I reckon I heard cockiness like this at 6/50 in a semi final a couple years ago...
