Re: HFL Central Division
Not connected with any club, but curiosity got me. So its a bit rich to pick on Echunga for struggling in the lower grades when you look at the following.
Torrens Valley 2011 1st year up
A's 5 w 13 l
B's 2 w 16 l
S/C 1 w 17 l
J/C 2 w 16 l
Birdwood 2007 1st year
A's 0 w 18 l
B's 4 w 14 l
S/C 0 w 18 l
J/C 10 w 8 l
So do Echunga deserve some grace?

Come on you guys agree with has been this relegation crap is really boring. He is right there will be 11 teams in central next year so lets stop all this tripe and talk finals footy. Can Echunga beat Lobey now the fine weather is back. Uris surely are 6-7 goals better. than both of those teams. They are so good and well coached

No way will there be an 11 team Central Division next season. That will only further damage the Country Division.

if the structure of Central remains the same then unfortunately Bridgewater will be displaced by Mt lofty (according to the HFL relegation laws and points system - relegation points not club shield as there is a distinction )
Agreed Uraidla are at least a 5 goal better side than the rest.
Should be a great match on Saturday with both sides one a piece so far.
Would be a major achievement should Echunga get through to the GF in their first year up - but can they keep winning?

Haven't seen a write up on last weeks game at all. Did anyone that attended the game give us a spill of how the game went?

Learn from the SFL. You guys are in a similar situation as we were in the late 90s. DO NOT let Division 2 fail, the focus needs to be on making the second division stronger. We allowed the second division to dwindle away, but that was fine because the Division 1 clubs were ok - it ended up becoming our problem.

Injured in the 1st quarter - but apparently not as bad as 1st thought - will likely be back if we make the GF.
Apparently 2 more back this week though with Fleet and Edmonds available.

Re: HFL Central Division
Should be a beauty on Saturday, looks like fine conditions which will make for a great spectacle. Echunga look to have built a really solid team all over the ground, lightening quick midfield and some big strong targets up forward which might stretch Lobeys defenders.
Legsman you talk about 2 more ins, are you at full strength? (Henke excluded)
Regarding B Grade, I thought TV might have beaten what looked to be a depleted Onkas a week earlier, obviously the home track help the doggies. Anyone at the game or involved who can comment?

Pretty close to full except for Henke & L Wilson (hammy)
Just realised it is 3 ins as B Rothe is also back.
TV looked slow compared to Onkas (quite a few big guys) and the home ground advantage seemed to play a part also.

This is what we need to all be listening to!! Not a short term quick fix plan for the betterment of one division at the loss of the other.

With respect, the SFL is a metropolitan football league, and cant be compared to a country league such as the HFL.
It's easy to type sentences such as "the focus needs to be on making the second division stronger", but tell me, how does Sedan Cambrai ever go about filling junior colts and senior colts teams and becoming competitive in the senior grades? How do the clubs with 1 primary school in the town, sometimes with less than 30 boys in the school, expect to field a suite of junior teams every year own their own?
Personally I'm heartened to learn that some Country Division clubs are looking at mergers to increase their playing base and financial stability. This is the only way some of them will survive.
If this happens, perhaps we can have two strong divisions (of say 7-8 teams each), with all 4 grades playing each Saturday so that the thought of relegation is not so horrific.
If clubs wont face the reality of their situation, then maybe we let natural selection take over.
Re: HFL Central Division
No talk on here how Mt Barker "AGAIN" fail in a final campaign would have to be upset with the outlay of $$$ for another underperformance....... Will they self nominate for relegation to country division just to ensure finals success next year!!!!!!!

With all due respect, the make-up at the time of the SFL is similar to what the Hills FL is now with Sedan-Cambrai & Milang the only genuine country teams left.
The Hills region is as much Adelaide metro as areas like Aldinga and McLaren Flat were at the time I was referring to (remembering also Kangarilla & Meadows were part of the equation). Hills is effectively a Metro league these days, with a few outlying towns.
It is certainly the most comparable recent example and a lot of lessons can be taken from it.
