AFL Finals - week # 2.

Post by Spargo »

And then there were 6.
Hawthorn & Sydney now have the week off - straight to the prelims.

Friday night @ MCG
Geelong v North Melbourne

Saturday night @ Subiaco
Fremantle v Port Adelaide

Both look like cracking games. North & Port will go in with confidence brimming, the Cats & Dockers possibly out in straight sets?

Ballantyne to have surgery on broken. Ross Lyon in a bit of trouble over getting physical with a fan. We will need to bring our best game for 4qtrs to beat Freo.

reckon this is about right.

but having said that, if i was both port and north, i think they match up best against the teams they are playing. if port play as well as they did today i think they will beat freo, but freo probably wont let them

Ballentyne is having surgery tonight but is expected to play still
Port couldn't beat freo without Fyfe so it doesn't bode well for them

Freo dont have Johnson now which is arguably a bigger out than Fyfe

Agreed. Not often that Fremantle kick nine goals unanswered, we won't let them do that again this week.

Take out that 9 goal run, lost by 10 points. Game on Saturday night!

One im now mulling over for AA. Seriously good on saturday, has been unheralded all season and would thoroughly deserve the accolade.

I reckon Port will win and Nth Melb v Geelong could go anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if both underdogs get up, both games should be crackers.

If Freo let Port run all over the place, then Port win. This of course won't happen. If North has a full back that can give Tom Hawkins a bath and can apply as much sustained pressure as Hawthorn did, then North will win. This of course won't happen. Quallies losers to rebound against the Elim final winners like usual.

I can't see North winning, I can see Port winning. Despite my obvious bias, I think Port will head back to Perth very confident of a win.

Monfires, Wingard and Westhoff all have found some touch over the last month, that are very important to Port heading further into September than last year.

Ballantyne and Johnson out from when me met them last, Barlow under a cloud and Fyfe back in. Silvagni and Dawson did alright on Franklin and Tippet....but both of those defenders can go missing pretty easily. Schulz 6 against them last time round.

Might be just about the match of the finals series to date if it's like the match two weeks ago.

Who was the last side to progress to the Preliminary final from the Elimination?

Has it been done under the AFL's current finals system?
