Re: SANFL crowd numbers
I was told today that they are expecting 15,000 at AO tomorrow.
After working a ten hour day I'm looking forward to both games, should be a good night for Football.

This average crowd figure for Adelaide is THE biggest misrepresentation of numbers I've ever seen! The Bush's would've been proud of it!
Everyone knows their supporters haven't turned up to games, that they claim ownership of other supporters' interest is laughable.
So who are these mystery people that turn up and make the crows the highest drawing team (or at least up there)
They are either crows supporters and your argument is dead, or they are extra supporters from the other team, in which case the argument about these hordes of extra crows supporters getting in for nothing is dead
Which way do you guys want to argue it? Seen it both ways multiple times.
Or,they are supporters of the home side getting in for free because they also happen to be crows members. They then stand there in silence when the crows score because, umm, what was that thing you said in an earlier post about not really being interested either way at the only game of SANFL you went to this year?
I'd hazard a guess that perhaps some supporters are staying home for some games in anticipation of getting in for free at crows games.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
Who are the individuals responsible for making the decision to open the southern gate only resulting in a few thousand having to line up, we will be lucky to be in at 1/4 time of the first game when we got here at 4.15. Go f*ck yourselves whoever you are..!!
P.S. go Sturt

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
Northern gate was also open to buy tickets and one eastern if you already had one. I agree though, it was farcical.

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
As great as it was seeing South Adelaide have a win on the AO, suburban grounds are still the way to go for the first 2 or 3 weeks of finals in my opinion. The Elimination Final crowd was obviously sparse, and a portion of those were either "neutrals", or bandwagoners who only have a passing interest in the match anyway. A Sturt v South final at Unley next week would have a fantastic atmosphere.

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
What did they need ticket booths for? Surely everyone knows a SACA or Footy member? I alone had 9 tickets I didn't use!

I had 9 tickets but they were all used by mates. I'm probably just a better bloke than you
Interesting to see your coach there yesterday, possibly doing a bit of scouting.

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
goes to show that a few on here will just whinge about anything.
the southern stand alone holds like 17000 or something, so if those gates cant handle 12000 (which they undoubtedly can) it seems to be people just like to whinge for the sake of it!!

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
Its not the gates, its the fact that Adelaide Oval doesn't normally sell tickets, it just admits people in with bar codes ready. The limited ticket windows are usually just used to pick up tickets. The extra time to buy tickets, etc is obviously where the issue is but as I said I'm suprised as there's at least 40,000 free tickets floating around, I honestly didn't think anyone would need to buy any, I couldn't give away 9.
Mind you it didnt seem to be an issue on Anzac Day where you'd think people would have been rocking up closer to the same time too and similar crowd. Maybe the Eagles supporters just took a while to find their Pension cards.

Yeah ok, fair enough. Still think that is your own fault if you don't make the game on time.

Well im guessing you didnt go yesterday.
Was poorly handled and even the staff admitted they got it horribly wrong. Staff were apologizing to patrons on arrival. Was a 25-30 minute wait for tickets and there were people who missed the opening of the game. Could of been solved if the gates were opened earlier, that would of allowed the majority to get in and then the staff would of coped when it got closer to game time. One of the staff also mentioned they had issues with the car parks but I cant comment on that as I found a park just around the corner. Bar service was fast and efficient but didnt go to the food areas so not sure about them

Re: SANFL crowd numbers
Need to open the gates earlier, even just half an hour. By the time many people got through at the Southern end (after they couldn't cope with non-barcoded tickets as per Wedgies post), grabbed a drink and something to eat there would have been 5 mins til first bounce. Thankfully grabbing a seat or viewing possie wouldn't have taken any time (as it would at an AFL game), but there was a lot of bemused and annoyed people, and that could have been avoided by opening up as little as 30mins earlier.

Because the gates didnt open until later, not sure what time they opened but a few Sturt fans said the gates didnt open until late.
There are always fans who like to get in early and get their preferred areas. I understand that if like me you rock up at 4:20 there will be some delay getting in but I think the whole mess could of been avoided by opening the gates 30 minutes earlier. As I said the staff realise this and I think it will be fine for this week
