Booney wrote:Watched the Rossies v Lockleys game on Saturday and it seemed to be a fair gap between the two sides.

Rossies had marking options all over the ground and managed to snuff out any run the much younger Lockleys side looked to generate.

Rossies kicked to the Eastern End ;) in the first quarter with a breeze that might have added 2-3 goals, they didn't use the ball all that well going forward and wasted some opportunities. They then held Lockleys with the wind to lead at half time and kicked away after the major break.

Lockleys didn't use the ball well going either way but really struggled to move the ball West into the breeze. Rossies, on the other hand, scored at both ends of the ground.

One thing I did notice ( and as a local who see's the oval a lot but doesn't really look at it - if you know what I mean ) is the poor condition of the oval at the clubroom end. Obviously the bulk of training would be done at that end, but it was bare, no grass and looked rock hard*.

All in all, was a pretty good game, but if 4th > 5th is that big a gap I couldn't see Locks going far into finals if that game was true to form.

Wasted many opportunities, it was 4.9 at qtr time and something like 10.19 at 3/4 time. Yep the oval is ordinary but what can we do, at least it wasn't a bog like so many other ovals at this time of the year.

Yeah, a bit rich complaining that an oval is too dry in the middle of winter.

Still runs the bloody wrong way though ;)

Well if it ran the other way the wings would be too wide and the length would be too short....

Would Rosewater be one of the only ground that runs East-West? I've tried thinking of others but cant think of many, only ones that maybe similar perhaps PNU is a little bit that way, and Gaza?

The MCG, at the risk of getting Jetters attention again, I think Unley does?

Brahma Lodge, Seaton would be, Plympton, Unley, CBC, Rosewater

Gaza would come close since they moved the goalposts too...they're more south east to north west ;)

Surely not, it's on a bit of an angle but I wouldn't have thought so.
