Re: List Assessment - Richmond Vs Crows
Richmond are potentially the next Melbourne/St Kilda, too much faith in their senior players who let them down constantly, amazes me that Cotchin and Delidio get called A graders, recruiting players from clubs that were list cloggers and questionable development of their kids.

Ok another question from Facebook argument.
Who would you rather have? Trent cotchin or Rory sloane?

Cotch, behind Danger he is the 2nd best mid between the clubs.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Sloane- one cant underestimate the value of contested ball winning mids.
In the crows case though- they could so with a Cotchin to compliment Danger and Sloane.

Cotchin!!!
Most of us posters would bust an absolute ball if we got a crack at AFL but you can't replace class
Cotchin better midfielder and has the ability to go forward and kick goals
That ones an absolute no contest

Re: List Assessment - Richmond Vs Crows
The funny thing about that one is that the clubs probably need the other more!
I still think it is so hard to find someone that can win their own ball at afl level. I would take sloane just but that is a personal preference.

Re: List Assessment - Richmond Vs Crows
Agree the Crows and Richmond could do with the other type but Cotchin is there best mid and Deledio and Martin would go before him imho if they were looking for a hard at it type.
Imho the highly skilled quality mid who can go forward and kick goals ala Cotchin, Pendlebury etc etc are much harder to find than the Sloane, Nate Jones style midfielder.
I like Sloane just think Cothcin class is elite where Sloane is more of a goer.

Sloan for me, proven ball winner. Cotchin's skills are better but gets most of his kicks from the first row of the crowd

Cotchin has taken the one-two cheap stat mantle from Kane Cornes.
Cotchin gives and receives* as much, if not more, than any midfielder. Gives, runs around, get's back and goes. Turns one touch into two very regularly.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Tough call. Both are players who when they have the ball you know more often than not it's going down a team mates throat. Sloan just ahead for mine.
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Slone for me. Not often he gets beaten in a 1 on 1.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Probably Cotchin, without any disrespect to Sloane.
I would be very interested to see Cotchin's output if he was the number 1 focus of the oppositions tagger. It's very rare that Sloane is put in this position

Re: List Assessment - Richmond Vs Crows
We also don't know how much Cotchin is directed by Hardwick to play that receiver role. If coached differently we might see Cotchin win his own football more
What we do know is Sloane is could never play as a highly skilled outside receiver as his kicking is below average afl standard

Well Richmond are sorely lacking in hard midfielders so I would say he would play that role if he could

Benymacca you have Thompson and pods both possibles as leaving comes year ends. Pods is contracted next year and if it's Scott Thompson he is almost back at career best form in the last month. And he just signed a two year contract

fair point about pods, i did forget that.
and i thought tommo was coming out of contract at the end of this year, good point if he is not. and yep he is playing well but i still get the feeling he is 1 injury away from calling it. i.e he was unlucky and got a 8 week injury or whatever i doubt he would come back

Re: List Assessment - Richmond Vs Crows
It really doesn't matter who has the best list when one will finish 10th and the other 13th, neither club will achieve anything.
FWIW, I'd rather finish 13th and try to improve that crap list a little more.

neither richmond or the crows have crap lists. that would be st kilda.
they both have something to work with, but both have glaring deficiencies too
this also shows how much you can stuff up a list through poor drafting. doesnt bode well for the crows given they are missing four draft picks from the past 2 years. thankfully we got crouch to somewhat stem that.

tommo is out of contract at the end of this year, as i thought. but if he keeps this form up there is no reason to suggest he wont play next year.
