Re: Grade Cricket
I'm sure no one would want to merge, but I think as has been discussed previously, shrinking the grade comp through merger is only going to make it stronger IMO.

Not what I've been hearing Maxi. Two separate people close to the club have told me there is definite interest from some influential people at WT. While this doesn't mean it is cut and dried that it will be pursued, I certainly do not think there is a consensus either way. And don't forget that the WT members did vote to pursue a merger with Woodville in the late 90s only for the Woodville members to knock it back.
What makes you think there is no interest?

Re: Grade Cricket
Would this interest be sparked from the poor treatment WT gets from the Football club at Henley Oval?
Dumbfounded to learn last year that you get no takings from the bar in the club rooms so to stick it up them you run a bar from the canteen.

Relations between Henley FC and West Torrens are fine. Decision re canteen sales is a win/win for both parties after some previous difficulty. Henley is a great place to play cricket and footy and the relationship has never been better.
AGM at club next Monday 30th June, 7pm. I'd urge all past, current and future Eagles to come along.

Doesn't this arrangement severly limit club atmosphere and the ability to generate revenue?

Not really. We still have the same area available to socialise and have the same drinks available at prices we can decide.
Cheers

Have also heard that the Prospect/Uni merger proposal is gathering some momentum....
In fact, all three clubs have won premierships in the past seven years: 5 of the seven premierships I believe.

Interesting choice to go back to a former coach. I heard they spoke to anyone and everyone. Last man standing a bit like Hinkley.Tony Clifton wrote:Damien Kelly looking after the Buffalos?

I believe there was a fair deal of player unrest due to a popular coach being sacked. Heard they may lose a few over it.Stumps wrote:Please elaborate heater

Re: Grade Cricket
But if the Coach can't fulfill his contractual obligations then what choice does the decision makers of the club have?
Would have thought attending pre-season trainings to asses the talent in the lower grades would have been very important task of the club coach

Re: Grade Cricket
Peter George off to Qld is the latest. No contract but could do a Ryan Harris and resurrect his career up on the more bowler friendly decks in brissy. Best of luck to him, reckon he was shafted a bit by the redbacks.
The Eagles will miss him, but with a fully fit Kelly, Derham and Cullen and some good youngsters in Williams and Johnson, their bowling should hold up. Batting will again be their problem but a big opportunity for some of the young guys to step up. Don't think they'll see a lot of K Smith this season....

Id do the same thing. I was only commenting on the question raised. Will they lose players over it as has been suggested.heater31 wrote:But if the Coach can't fulfill his contractual obligations then what choice does the decision makers of the club have?

He played a few games at Grange last season didn't he? Wouldn't be surprised to see him there this season.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Only barely rolled his arm over last year for Grange while recovering from shoulder reco.
