Re: SAAFL division 6 2014
The fact it broke the blokes leg/ankle in 2 places would surely mean the impact would be severe/high, if you break a blokes jaw in 2 places with a hit you probably get around 6/7 weeks, why is kicking out at someone and breaking there ankle any different in terms of contact made and severity of punishment?

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014
so until the umpire found out the ankle was broken it only got a yellow card ???? going by that alone the umpire at the time didnt think to much of it either then

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014
How would you or anyone else know what the umpire was thinking? Maybe he just wanted to make sure the incident didn't flare up by immediately removing the bloke from the field.

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014
what exactly is your beef here Robb_Stark? Is it the umpires handling of the situation? The tribunals handling of the situation? Or are you a glass is forever half empty type of bloke which merely has to argue any point/decision the league or its officials make?

its the inconsistent outcomes at the tribunal that seem to bother me this year

i did do my research and the way its graded is a load of rubbish Severe or high even for a broken ankle come on
kicking and headbutting get the same outcome yet have worse impact
a trip is pretty much a kick..your saying a headbutt is worse than breaking someones leg in 2 places?? not even close..
A headbutt could kill someone

So humour us Mr Stark and explain how you would have graded this one and why the 6 week suspension is an example of the tribunal being inconsistent.

And if someone headbutted another and killed them i'm sure the ramifications would be incredibly severe.

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014
there are a few different ways to trip someone the umpire at the time of the incident only felt the need to send the player off witha yellow card once he returned to the injuried player and found out that the ankle could be broken the player was then reported then when it got to the tribunal they found out it had been broken in 2 places......
id argue that the player who tripped was not actually trying to hurt the player but its more of a reaction and reckless at the time im 100 percent sure the person in question did not intend to hurt the player but his actions did cause some decent damage but still did not warrant 6 weeks
iwe could go back and forwards all day but a closed fisted punch or a headbutt will only get you 6-7 weeks as well or even less when clearly they are not the same impacts a broken foot heals same as a ankle brain tissue or impacts to the end they dont ever heal
and footy chick to say the player may not ever play again your not a specialist for one so your making an assumption on that

If I were an umpire such as yourself Mr Stark I would not get on a forum and attempt to explain anything.

Young Ryan Brennan has serious priors to this suspension as well is lucky to only get the 15 games.
