Re: BL&G Football League
Another belting for the Bombers today, atleast they fought it out until the end.
Lawton was super impressive, reckon he must of kicked atleast 8 or 9, takes a decent grab

Second half was pretty even Rocket. Did show what impact a top quality forward like Lawton can have on a game though. Was he the difference?
Bombers ordinary in first half.

Dont think he was the only difference but played a big part. Delivery to him was pretty good but he takes a decent contested grab aswell.
Doesnt help that after quarter time they couldnt miss a goal, were kicking them from everywhere. Thought they had pretty good skills all round and had some decent pace. First quarter was the most disappointing, didnt work hard enough and let them run loose. As you have rightly said, not much you can do if the cattle isnt there. Onviously its all about limiting damage now and hopefully avoiding the big blow outs

Re: BL&G Football League
Should be a great game on Saturday between the Lions and Donnybrooks. Home ground should be enough for the Donnies to sneak home. Is the man mountain Jim Jones playing or is he back at Glenelg.
In regard to Kapunda the biggest issue they have is lack of someone that knows how to recruit players.Seems to me the blokes in charge have no contacts and no idea when it comes to getting the right players to supplement the locals.Would have thought with Buckets playing at Centrals for so long he would have some contacts to draw players to the Bombers.
Maybe they need to understand if you want good players you have to spend some money rather than offer peanuts.

Not sure he will have a massive impact, would be getting on a bit.
As far as I know he played at Smithfield and Salisbury North as a wingman.
Was a fair Div 1 player at Sals North but that was 5 or 6 years ago.
The cricket club could also do with him

Re: BL&G Football League
Was told last night at the club the Association again has threatened players with suspensions if they don't play in the mickey mouse zone championships.
Would have thought that by now people in the CFB would realize this is a waste of time, money and only stuffs up our local competition by having players missing games in our minor round.
Would be interesting to see what players have been selected in the squad.
Tanunda have been the only club to support this crap and when players like Cutting, Commane(in previous years), Lawry, Baker, Mercer all somehow don't get selected it makes a mockery of the whole process.
If we have to have rep footy then get back to playing June long week-end against Riverland and make it compulsory that all players are available and then we could have players suspended for not playing and those that have mystery injuries that can't play make them not available the following minor round game.

Given that the BL&G doesnt play association footy on the June long weekend why wouldnt a round of matches been scheduled so that when the Zone champs are on all clubs can have the weekend off?
I dont think Tanunda are the only club that have supported it mate

BLG tried it a couple years ago, and from what i can remember, there were quite a few players missing from a lot of teams due to the fact that its a long weekend. Lots of people away on holidays that were organised well before the fixtures came out.

The CFB doesn't realise some blokes don't want footy every weekend from April to September. They want a weekend off to spend with their family, or take the missus away for a quiet holiday. I have no issue with rep footy like zone or interleague, but if a lad doesn't want to play he shouldn't be forced to. In the case of recruited players, clubs have too much invested to have players playing in extra matches with no benefit to the club. And besides many of these players have played or at least attempted league football, so getting picked in a zone side isn't that interesting!

Re: BL&G Football League
played with Joss Deneglese 10-12 years ago
wingman in A1, pretty quick and had good skills
would think by now has lost some of his pace, more likely suited to a half back come half forward now

Seems the case Chris James is his name, Ruckman but can play CHF big loss for the Rams if true, Joss also played a handful of games for Norwood reserves
When it comes to winning you need the skill and the will

Re: BL&G Football League
The way South are going, I wouldn't think he would fit in to the A Grade side. Be a very useful reserve if injuries occur. James on the other hand could slot straight in and allow Lawry even more flexibility.
