It's funny this thread and golf in general.

Ive found some consistency in my game especially off the tee but realise im only one drive away from losing all that confidence.

Then SD was saying about snap hooking drives and then goes out wins the comp at Royal Thaxted.

Heater resuming from injury wasnt confident and played out a solid round that we all would be very happy with

It is a very funny game that's for sure. The good thing is you can always get better and it is (sometimes) enjoyable.

An older guy that was in my group on Sunday had a good point - Golf is the only game that as you get better you play less.

Golf is sometimes all in the head.....well I didn't go in the Day's competition so no expectations what so ever. Let myself down with two 8's (both par 5) and had a 5 on a par 3. So there is 8 shots right there that were not necessary....

On the other side of the coin, I have posted a solid first nine score before and after the drive on the second 9 some one plays my ball. Fuming at a fellow player's incompetence my round proceeds to turn into shit.

Probably go for a hit at the range at some point this week and look to get back into competition next weekend.

Yep if I'm struggling I have a week off. Professionals don't play week after week as they are so mentally taxed.

Another one is a Tiger Woods tip, only reflect on your previous shot for 30 seconds after it happened. For amateurs like us once you put the club back in the bag forget about it and start focussing on the next one....

I try to get out at least once a week, regardless of how im playing. I enjoy going for the walk and listening to the tunes. some days I even will play 2-3 balls - not for the whole hole but if im playing an approach or a chip shot I may play a few extra balls and use different clubs just to see what works.
an example is on the 4th hole at Vines I had around an 85m fairway approach shot. one practice ball with a PW, GW and then the 56degree wedge.

good point heater about forgetting about the last shot. I know as a hacker I sometimes try to over evaluate why it went so horribly wrong, I think having the headphones in helps that!!

Whenever I play with dissident and I am just off the green he always says "second chip" to me because it is pretty standard for me to duff my first chip then hit it to 1m with my second.

And then miss the putt but that's another matter.

That's always the case. When out on my own I will play a game ball, but then if I hit a carp shot I will pick up a second ball and hit the same shot again and usually nail it....
