Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
There was a minute or so left on the clock when the injury occurred, the umpire then clearly blew time off. The siren then went before play restarted. Does time on not apply in Foxtel Cup? Was this some form of Mercy rule? or just an error? Doesn't apply here - but if the game was close that would be a farcical end.

Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
Have read there was about 6-8 West Coast players who played for East Perth
Hopefully Port Power Reserves or Adelaide Crows Reserves qualify for next years Foxtel Cup to even things up

Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
How can you possibly say that was the difference between the two sides when Norwood put their reserves on the park though?
Also an interesting comparison - east Perth is third and peel are bottom. So the reserves teams are hardly taking the competition by storm over there either.

Because they did the same in 2013 , and won the SANFL Premiership ?
So are you telling me they ultimately compromised a competition they themselves chose to enter into, with the permission of all of the other clubs, for the sake of a chance at an ultimately bigger prize?

Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
More examples of why the SANFL has lost the plot, can there be anymore poor decisions made to totally stuff up our league?
But as long as out AFL teams are OK, no dramas!

I cant comment on behalf of the Norwood Football Club
On face value , by selections , they may not have taken the comp seriously enough ?
Its given some younger players a chance at a higher level , that experience might help their progress at the club ?
Personally, I would rather 1 SANFL flag , to say compared to 10 Foxtel Cup wins

Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
But yet you, and many others, are so angry at the crows and power for arguably the same sentiment?
I know that's a generalisation and a lot of you are angry at the sanfl for allowing it, but still.

Time for the SANFL to pull the plug on teams playing Foxtel cup. If teams are not in it to win , they are damaging our competitions brand as the best league outside the AFL.

Yep fair point imo.
I would have thought being able to be called champions or Australia would be a pretty significant carrot, but it doesn't seem to be.
I really like the concept but they have to try and do better than the current system, because it doesn't work. At least in the eyes of the sanfl clubs

Clearly the advent of Adelaide in the SANFL and the loss of the bye has impacted upon how the participating clubs see the importance of the "Cup".
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Re: Foxtel Cup 2014
The Foxtel Cup could be done in a state league FA cup style competition played midweek
put up the cash and teams may take it seriously
surely the SANFL teams should have taken it far more seriously given the comp is run with 3 different sets of rules

There has only been 1 year in which the top teams actually played. They didn't take it seriously before they either.
And I agree putting the cash up is the way to go. But that would only come through sponsorship, and if the interest isn't there then that will be hard.

My thinking is (and it won't be done because this comp is made for TV), the comp should be 'pre-season'.
It would work better for clubs, give them a good hit out in March and not interrupt the season.

But they wouldn't be champions of Australia - were West the best club in Australia last season? On this seasons form Norwood shouldn't have even been in the competition.
I don't think our club or too many supporters could complain if we weren't invited back in the future should we qualify.
