North`s recruiting during the offseason was well below par and we are suffering the consequences of our club taking the cheap way out. You just have to look at the likes of Sturt and Eagles to see what you get when you spend and spend wisely.
Well done Eagles, you were simply too polished for a undermanned and underpayed NAFC.

That's been the only positive the Dogs have had over the last two years is the easy $30k we have made from Matty Westoff and Alan Obst

There is no need for all the other teams to thank North for raising a new standard in crap footy no matter how bad your team plays it pales into insignificance compared to North!

Impressed with the way the Eags moved the ball from defence to attack today, gave the forwards every chance and they capitalised. Great debut by Joe Sinor, showed composure and skills. North only a shadow of the side last year and are obviously undermanned. North usually hurt us with their run but today I thought we outran them big time. Norwood a serious challenge this week, we will need to be at our best again.

the Eagles train certainly rolled on nicely again on the week end..
The side has a major upside this year, with Wudnke and Ainger easily the best forward combo in the league that no defence will be able to handle, even Port will struggle if the ball gets in there quick enough for 1 on 1's.. Add Grocke in there and what SANFL side will have 3 defenders capable of going with 3 State key forwards from the previous 2 seasons?? The run from defence has been a positive as well, Batley has been super, as has Raymond as usual, and Sumner is improving week by week.. Boyd has been good as a running mid, and his glaring defensive issues arent a major factor with Lewis and Powell such good defensive mids..

Rucks a huge issue, Borholm is a good second ruck, but has been exposed big time against the better rucks. Brooksby demolished him, but thats no big shame, Brooksby does that to alot better ruckman than Borholm.. Needed to replace Parry with a front line ruckman and allow Borholm to be the quality back up option he is.. Key defenders are an issue as well, luckily we dont have to play against our forwards, but I think we have enough of a defence to cover most attacks in the league..

The development has been good again, with Lloyd stepping in and taking his chance, Sinor was impressive on the week end, Batley has come on in leaps and bounds, Von Bertouch has lifted his game to a new level.

Would have to be the second favourite behind Port, as South couldnt beat them after absolutely monstering the middle of the ground, they simply dont have the defence to stop Wundke/ Ainger, and that will cost them come finals.. Sturt are going along nicely as well, cant write them off, but I just think the Eagles are looking ominous

Were there any goal square controversies this year, I heard Ainger got a 2 goals for 1 deal early.

YEP he was pushed / hit to the ground after he scored . Umpire awarded him a free kick result two goals for one !!

Not the first time in games between the two clubs has this happened IIRC!

This one wasn't controversial at all, 100% there and stupid by Miles especially being the Captain. We were 3 goals up at that stage and then suddenly there was a kick in it.

Bit of a brain snap from Miles, quite surprising always seems a pretty level headed bloke. Umps really set the tone early Saturday with that free and then a 50m penalty for backchat against Boyd from memory in the first quarter.
Trust the process.

That was after he got a free, then gave a shove and had it reversed. Then came the protest and the 50m penalty cost a goal.
